I don't know the release date - missed that too! But yes I think it was the M01D thing - they were playing the WInd Waker main theme on it and it was wonderful

It's been out in Japan since 2010 or something silly but is cruelly region locked, and the closest we've had to a release date so far is "summer 2013".

Flipnote 3DS is due soon too, but still no date as far as I can tell. Sad times.

My local has just STARTED selling them. Consoles, accessories and a few games on the shelves this week.

I reckon we're gonna see a big push and a new advertising campaign come pre-christmas. Maybe even a some sort of rebrand - who knows, maybe even with a new Turtles game:

Dunno if you saw the Nintendo Direct today or not but we announced our first game acting as a publisher.

In what I think is a world first (particularly for an indie) you can play online against players on Wii U, PC, Mac, Linux and iOS versions of the game. Plus all the UGC will be cross platform too.

I've been working hard with 3Sprockets the developer and Nintendo to make this happen so fingers crossed it's a success. It's a great game and deserves to be as successful on Wii U as other platforms.

We are aiming for end of 2013/start of 2014 but it hinges on Unity

To blow my own trumpet it is very impressive. I have spent the last 3 months negotiating with Nintendo about this and afaik am the first person to get this approval out side of say Square Enix. So forgive me for being a little proud.

The knock-on effect of getting permission to do cross platform is others who want to do the same now have a precedence to do so. Which is awesome.

actually - the more I think about it, the bigger it is... can you imagine MS letting you do this? Play via XBox Live with folks on different systems? Surely 3rd party publishers would love this?

There were a couple of Xbox games that let you play with PC players, and likewise a few PS3 games that played with PC gamers.

I don't see Nintendo allowing cross platform play with the Xbox or PS though!

It has been done before, yeah. The problem was the control schemes - mouse and keyboard is just far more accurate than the controller so it just wasn't even. That's also why they dropped the cross platform play for Counter Strike: Global Offensive.
