Nintendo Wii U

My one complaint about the Pro pad is that the shoulder buttons are a bit shit. I don't know if I got a duff pad or something, but they feel really spongey and sometimes it doesn't feel like you've actually pressed them. Otherwise it's great.

Thats the thing I dont understand about digital no box,no disc and no instructions to print. It must be the most eviromental friendly way to buy a game yet it is still to most expensive.

Can I what hard drive you went for?

I believe there's an element of not pricing under the retail RRP so that retailers aren't pissed off, although that's not exactly working out for Nintendo at the moment.

I haven't tried the hard drive yet, spent most of the evening setting it up and doing firmware upgrade before giving Nintendoland a whirl. But its the one that I took out of my PS3 and was running my wii backups from... I'll try tonight and let you know.

The online thing is pretty strange for sure, I'd have expected at least a minimum £10 off retail price but at this rate I can probably buy two copies for the price of one from eBay or places like here.

Can you point me to a site that explains how to do this as I have a old ps3 drive here but did not know that you can hook it up to a wii u.

You've got absolutely no change of that happening on the WiiU or the PS4 and Xbone it would annoy retailers too much. The most you can hope for is some exclusive DLC.

Or saving a bit through deals, like this Pikmin 3/Wonderful 101 thing they're running. If you buy a Pikmin code from Game, it'll end up costing around £63 to buy both games, plus it will generate a £5 eShop voucher and put you fairly close to getting the second one.

Just been reading up on that game deal, I think I'll be having some of that.

Maybe this was why MS were trying to kill the preowned market as there's no chance of me spending cash on a DL/retail copy of Mario when its readily available second hand for 20-25?

And this Monster Hunter thing then, worth a punt?

Cheers,

Indy

It seems to assume you are already familiar with the series and want to just compare changes in mechanics and weapons with older versions, so it dumps you at a point you would only normally get to after about 20 hours play. Whereas the actual game really eases you into it.

A much better demo IMHO would just be to let you play the whole of the 1 star quests and then carry your save on.

I'll have to download the Monster Hunter demo again and give it another go. It certainly seems to be getting a lot of love in this thread. The 5/10 minutes I saw of it really didn't impress me, though. It looked like a Dreamcast game.

In other news, the wife never plays games, but since getting the Wii U at the start of June she's started to get back into gaming. She doesn't play for long periods, but absolutely loves NSMBU, and is counting down the days until Donkey Kong comes out.

Went online just to give it a go.So i joined a novice room. The 3 other guys were rank 60 with all this great armour and there is me in my pants.

I just turned and left will go back online when I have put 30 odd hours into solo.

FWIW, the demo is going to be an utterly bewildering experience.

Choose the great sword, watch and learn the Lagombi's attacks. You will die. A lot.

Play again. Die.

Play again. Start figuring it out. Die.

Play again. Smash his teeth in. Punch air in victory.

Play again. Win.

Play again. Be addicted.
