Never quite understood what spotpass is.

It's sort of like WiiConnect24. They send you stuff overnight or whenever you're connected. This can be system-level stuff or related to the games you've played.

I guess he means a Streetpass app on your phone that would get passes from other people then sync with your 3DS later. The idea being you (and other people) would be more likely to carry your phone everywhere.

It'd be a bit less special I think. There's something nice about pulling the 3DS out of my bag, seeing the green light of happiness and knowing I've crossed paths with another owner who is carrying their's with them too.

Although I guess we'll kinda lose that when the Relay feature rolls out soon.

Of course, one of the reasons for StreetPass existing in the first place is to encourage people to carry their 3DSes everywhere, since then they are more likely to play it and more likely to buy games for it.

Anyone have any idea when the eshop cards are being released on Amazon?

I had a gift card that I thought I could put toward downloading Pikmin 3 for the 30% off Wonderful 101 but I can only pre-order it...

Are they not out yet properly or something? I tried googling it but I couldn't find any mention of when they might be available through Amazon.

They've been "Coming Soon" on Amazon for months.

You can get them in pretty much any shop that does gift cards though - supermarkets, Next, Debenhams, Clintons, Game, HMV, Argos... No use to you if you have an Amazon card though. Unless you can buy a Sainsbury's gift card with your Amazon gift card? :)

Right. How could that benefit from being a smartphone app? (Droo's post)

Yeah, I did mean streetpass!

apologies!

Back to the VC, how long is Earthbound likely to take and how much concentration does it take?

Had to pick up Earthbound but noticed Donkey Kong at 30p.  Shame they didn't do the same for Jnr but can't complain, quite fun to play on the pad whilst watching TV.

It's a shame Nintendo didn't make the arcade version of Donkey Kong available, but for 30p it's an absolute bargain.

Seeing as it was the 32nd anniversary the other week, it does seem strange.

But then have they released any of their arcade games on VC? Punch out would be awesome with the dual screen....

Man, it's depressing seeing every new/newish game announcement passing on wiiu. I'm thinking recently of Strider and Soul Caliber 2 hd. Do people think Nintendo should be paying for titles like this to come out for the console? Or do they think the slew of 1st party titles later this year will turn things around and cause 3rd parties to come on board next year?

Those Wii U ads on ITV4's Tour de France coverage are so bad. Two family members sitting down, one holding the GamePad and the other a Wii Remote, vaguely looking like they're playing a game which is never shown.

Even after all this time you'd still think Wii U was a peripheral for Wii if you didn't know better.
