Nintendo Wii U

I drunkenly downloaded it last Friday. It's got some good stuff in it, and it's pretty funny. Some of the silly little rewards you get from the capsule chicken are great. I wish they'd have expanded on some of the games a bit; the measuring one is really addictive but they could have done a lot more with it (timed modes where you have to draw a certain number of lines lengths of a minimum neatness etc.)

It's a shame they didn't just release it as a £20 download, it would have been an easy recommendation at that price. I actually think it would have made a really good free to play/IAP game. Give one or two games and capsule machine away for free/a small price and let people pick and choose the other games they want. They'd have avoided much of the criticism that's been levied against it that way.

Just a heads up for those of you that miss it in the bargains forum, NSMBu, Zombie U and Nintendoland are £18 each in Asda atm.

Checked the Cambridge ASDA this lunch - not a single Wii U title (or any hardware for that matter).

If anyone does happen to see NSMBU for £18, I'd be well happy if they grabbed it for me.

Amazon appear to be matching them [ASDA] up (or even beating them) on a lot of the stuff:

Nintendoland - £18 - http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00844QZCQ

ZombiU - £17:30 - http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00844Q328

BLOPS II - £18 - http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B009H6MBG4

Assassin's Creed III - £13 - http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00844QLI4

Nothing to stop you trying your luck with Flubit as well to see if you can go even lower :D

The pro controller for Wii U is 20quid in Asda as well. Very, very nearly bought it today until I realised I have no games I'd use it for. I bought some steak and peppers instead. I might still get it though, because I doubt I'll find many so cheap when Smash Bros comes around.

Joffo - if you do go back to ASDA and they happen to have a NSMBU for £18, I'd be ever-so-grateful if you grabbed one for me. Pretty please. Cherry on top.

I'll perhaps have a wander down tomorrow. :)

I was mostly hoping there'd be some ludicrous deal on either Lego City Undercover or Need For Speed but Nintendoland, Mario and ZombieU were literally the only games they had for Wii U.

I dint really like the WiiU Pro Controller. i tried using it for Need For Speed but the buttons are where the right stick should be so it felt wrong.

I found the same trying to play NSMBU, it's just unplayble with the controller.

Do Wii games look worse on the Wii U than on the Wii? I'm going to get a Wii U, but I also want to play the Galaxy games. Eurogamer ran an article saying Wii games on the Wii U are forced to run at 480p rather than obeying the settings in the vWii display, and consequently some don't look as good as they did on the Wii over component?

Does anyone have any experience with this? I'm wondering if I should pick up a cheap Wii to play Galaxy etc and stick some emulators on it whilst I'm at it. Or should I just get a Wii U?

I played RE4 the other month and, other than an inch-thick black border around it, I didn't think it was noticeably any different.

But I think great games are still great, even if a little washed out or whatever the complaints are, so I might not be the best at noticing.

For those interested in Pikmin 3 (and you all should be), I stuck the £27.99 pre-order (from wow HD I think) into Flubit and got offered £23.68.

And Nintendo Land seems lovely, though a little short, from what I've played so far.
