It's utterly stupid considering they're already linked to your club nintendo account so they could already see you've bought them if they wanted to.

I'm gonna spend tonight taking turns with the ladychum on Mario World I reckon.

Nintendo is woefully behind the times with stuff like this. Still, at least the transfer process is utterly charming

Oh wow, unless you've got the space / resources to set up an SDTV with an NTSC SNES + RGB, the GamePad is the definitive way to play the 60hz versions of these games. Definitely wins out over SNES + HDTV. I've bought SMW and yup, will definitely be selling my cart. :)

One minor criticism is that L+R are the default in each SNES game to directly mirror the originals. ZL + ZR are much more logical & I change them immediately. It would be nice for a future system update to allow a system-wide setting for that kind of thing. The ergonomics of the GamePad aren't quite right for the default given the placement of the d-pad.

Is there any way of setting the games to full screen?

Yeah, once you do that it shows up at the discount price automatically.

Nope, at least not yet. Given these games were always 4:3, it would do torturous things to their appearance to stretch them out like that. I'm sure the option would be nice for people who want it, but I can see why it wasn't a priority.

Do the revised overscan/screen size options that came in the update this week apply to the Wii mode too?

No.

It doesn't upscale unfortunately - but it does look much better still than the Wii output.

Yes it does. I get a 1080p output on my TV. It doesn't natively render the games at 1080p like an emulator can though.

It's definitely an improvement though. The only issues are sorting the overscan settings so that it matches the Wii U and getting a USB loader working. I think the latter is already doable, but I haven't looked into it properly.

I forget to check notifications, did I respond? Also did you do it from the... thingy you're supposed to? Someone help me out here. If you do it one way people will see the notifications, if you do it another people don't.

Yes.

WAFFLES?!

NNID link in my sig tells you which way to do it. F'nar.

I did it the wrong way. I'm a chimp. I'll do it again tonight. Wondered why I only got 2 responses :)

I'd say the Murfy level shows genuine use of the Wii U GamePad. Granted perhaps a bit too fast and frantic. Your bashing the character to move faster, your hitting bugs, your adjusting platforms so that Globox doesn't fall to his doom, hitting fireballs, snapping rope AND trying to swish lums before Globox collects them so that they count as double. Fully leaderboarded AND you can activate/deactivate other players ghosts.

Use of the gamepad, but not particularly inspired really. The challenge of bashing and swiping as quickly as possibly in the Murphy challenge level makes things more enjoyable, but personally I think the gameplay is just a bit too obvious and simplistic in the main touchscreen level. Particularly in comparison to platform games where you get to control the character on top of interacting with stuff with a pointer or whatever. And they designed it for finger interaction when they could have made use of accuracy the resistive touchscreen offers with a stylus in your hand.

Saves, I don't know.

Anyhow, I've finally made a start on Monster Hunter despite downloading it almost two weeks ago.

Two hours in, and I'm hooked again. And ive not even done the first quest yet.

Having the gamepad screen customisable with all those panels is a massive help and gets rid of many of the frustrations of the Wii version. My only wish is to be able to use ZL/ZR instead of L/R. Unless you can?

Wii to WiiU system transfer does transfer saves. If you aren't doing the transfer you first have to create a save file on the Wii with the game whose save file you want to transfer, then you have to delete it before it will allow you to copy your original save across. Which is a crazy way of doing it.

Monster Hunter is an amazing time sink... it's the reason I don't own Luigis Mansion, Need for Speed or Fire Emblem... and the reason I haven't started Darksiders 2, only a quarter way through Batman and Lego City.

It's pretty much the only game I play right now and it's MASSIVE.
