Nintendo Wii U

I think they're 'melting' because Nintendo are being incredibly half assed again.

This is the Wii U VC launch lineup:

Balloon Fight

Donkey Kong Jr

Excitebike

Ice Climber

Kirby's Adventure

Punch-Out!!

F-Zero

Super Mario World

4 games we've already had so they are effectively launching with two of the oldest NES games and the (brilliant) SNES launch game. Nintendo really don't get it do they?

It takes them six months to decide to launch a service like this... why?

I'm glad I didn't look now. What a pitiful list and I run a retro mag. Even I'm finding it hard to get excited about those.

Wait, weren't 4 or 5 of those games once considered so throwaway and simplistic that they were given away 'free' inside a full game a decade ago (Animal Crossing)?

I honestly have no idea, the only one I'm interested in is Super Mario World but I already got it on the Wii Virtual Console. I'm waiting to see what the deal with this account system is but really they need to make the games cheaper or put more out there.

I'd rather that than have 30 games that I want all come out on the same day.

This makes no sense at all, it's not that you have to buy them all at the same time... I'd prefer to just make everything available at the same time so you can play the game you want at the moment you want rather than having to wait for God how long until Nintendo decides it's time to milk that particular antiquity.

I just wonder what the benefits of a VC system are if the games are released so sparingly and for way too much money. It's not that we've got about a million alternatives to play them for free through emulation on a plethora of open OS-based systems (PC, Linux tables/consoles) or modded consoles (Xbox, Wii, PSP, etc.). So far the only benefit of the Wii U is that you'd be able to play them on the pad screen, but that's about it.

And that it's legal that way.
