Nintendo Wii U

It sad that the announcement of persistent accounts at E3 would be considered exciting news when it's something that should of been there from the get go.

EDIT: I'm not directing this at anyone here just a general statement.

They won't.

I'm hoping they see that releasing games for <£1 drives up sales beyond what they're getting at standard price.

it will undoubtedly up the sales... Will it up them enough to make them more profitable than they wouldve been at 3 quid (or whatever)... also very possible (selling over 10 times more at lower price).

Will Nintendo make a permanent change to that pricepoint? I doubt it... they would see it as "devaluing their products" despite the profit increase

I dont think its been that bad to be honest. I think they have been a victim of circumstances.

its been fucking terrible (and thats coming from someone that loves the console).

A brand new games console launching with a beta dog slow operating system, confusing advertising and no showstopper games. All fuelling a poisonous hype machine - that seems to have it in for the console.

of course the best is yet to come, you numpty. because (as I said) - they couldn't be much worse.

Looks like my WiiU's just died. Over the course of the last few weeks I've had an intermittent problem with a red light on the main unit flashing when I power on. It was resolved by just pulling the power cable out waiting a few seconds and trying again but as of last night it just sits there blinking red at me regardless. The stupid fuck.

Checked online and it seems to be an issue for some, just wondered if anyone here had similar issues?

Sounds exactly like the issue I had. I called Nintendo, they emailed me a returns label, I sent it off and got it back fixed three days later. All save data erased unfortunately. If you can get it working one time, copy all that onto an SD card or hard drive!

I already told you, no need to be a cheeky prick. I agree with you on the advertising and lack of showstoppers, however there has been plenty to play with all the ports. The poisonous hype machine is the main obstacle. Word of mouth is hurting the system and Ninty need to counter that with an amazing E3. However, I read last night some journo at C&VG who has been blasting it said he has seen some stuff that changed his opinion so I am hopeful.

I honestly think I will just pop you on ignore, seeing as you don't seem to like giving replies without being nasty.

Yeah - I read that as well, some CVG guy who has been beating up on the WiiU has just completely changed his opinion based on some stuff he's seen and heard.

I think Nintendo have just blasted everything for the 3DS for 2013 out of the way and are making room completely for the WiiU.

Also - folks are saying that Iwata is going to miss his goal of 100 billion yen - but I'm sure he said that was for *next* fiscal year and not this one... but I could be wrong of course.

Iwata set himself up for that when he publically mentioned it to the shareholders, consensus guestimates are currently 70 Billion JPY, so nobody expects them to hit it for this FY, even with a weakened Yen, and Pachterdamus is amongst those who would happily bet against them managing it.

I'm even hearing rumblings that Tim Cook is under pressure to perform and his company still makes more money than Microsoft!

Only 4 of 20 analysts tracked by Bloomberg recommend buying Nintendo shares, while 13 recommend holding them and 3 recommend investors sell.

Hire Peter Moore, he's done tours of duty at 2 of their competitors already, and everybody inexplicably loves the bloke, he might even be able to make the elusive licensee problem go away, EA will announce amazing support after they hire him I'm sure.

But that's the point - I'm sure Iwata said 'NEXT' fiscal year... Which is just about to start.

He would've known the year was a write off last quarter.
