Nintendo Wii U

Maybe it was because of the DX11 features (I'm not sure if I turned them off), but Arkham City stuttered like a bitch on my PC when it was trying to cache/preload the next room and stuff. It was especially noticable in the 'Batman going through the door' animation. Nothing like that on the 360 though.

It stuttered for me even in DX9 mode. Well, no, not stuttered - sort of lagged and slowed down for a brief few moments every now and again (a bit like slo-mo, but obviously not intentional), when it was trying to load the next bit. It happened a lot when swooping around the city too. Or sometimes seemingly at random when climbing up to a gargoyle.

Still... PCs, eh?!

Ahh, well, all of them do that a little bit, especially when streaming in LOD stuff as you get nearer to it. That's what you get for trying to make a faux open world game with UE3 I suppose. It gets worse depending on what you're streaming the new content from too - optical disc, hard drive, SSD etc.

Yeah, the framerate is kind of fucked on the Wii U version. It's actually higher at times because it's unlocked, but veers into the teens during combat, juddering loads. Game speed has absolutely nothing to do with this Dekay, "idiot reviewers" can tell the difference between framerate drops and purposeful slowdown to highlight the action.

Idiot reviewers can't. Hence the phrase "idiot reviewers" :)

I downloaded that runner 2 game, by jove thats ridiculously good! I started playing it on the gamepad screen and then moved onto the telly when the missus wasn't looking, found it hard to not look at the gamepad screen!

So far i am loving the wii u experience, the gamepad makes such sense allowing you to play on it aswell as some great multiplayer options - kids love it as much for sonic racing as nintendoland!

Get some more games out on it, sort out VC and pricing of downloads and it will be a cracking console Nintendo!

Things the Premium have over the Basic:

- sensor bar (if you need one)

- charging cradle for Gamepad

- Gamepad stand

- rebate on all eShop purchases (8%?) until December 2014. There are rumours that Nintendo will extend this to the 3DS but I'm not sure on this.

- it's black

Depends if you need a sensor bar, nintendoland and a stand for console gamepad.

I prefer the white console, picked up nintendo land for £18 in CEX (coulda got cheaper i suspect on ebay/forum) already have a sensor bar and as you say 32 isnt going to be enough so will put a external drive on it!

Speaking of that, is anyone using an external hdd powered by usb rather than mains??

Most places seem to be doing the premium for £249 at the moment, or for about £269 with a game. ShopTo has the premium with Lego City Undercover for £269, for example. Was it £199 in HMV?

Nintendo's silence despite every retailer under the sun desperately trying to shift their stock at massive discounts is deafening.

It was £199, had one in my hands but didn't know if I could afford it until now :(

Looks like the Lego City bundle is the winner, Amazon are only offering Zombi U or Just Dance in theirs.

Edit: or not, £23.99 delivery because I'm in NI. Fuck. Off!

Oh gods, Monster Hunter attached to my telly with proper online once more, here we go again...
