Nintendo Wii U

I'm a total nintendo fanboy and I just didn't get on with what little of ZombiU I played. I love the concept of letting your guard down to access your backpack or door keypads on the gamepad and the focus on survival being enhanced with a difficulty level that promotes a considered approach to item use and progress, but it just felt so clumsy and awkward to play that I was put right off pretty quickly. I'll give it another chance if I ever find a copy under 15quid but for now I'm happy to stick to playing Nintendoland for the challenge.

I only played the Zombi U demo, but it did nothing for me apart from irritating me a bit when it was supposed to be tense/scary.

The graphics should be better for a game developed specifically for the Wii U.

And the cricket bat combat was pretty shit really.

I think Red is missing the point...but then I dont see why, if he is so against it, he feels the need to continually berate the machine.

I'll stop "berating" the Wii U when it shows itself worthy of the Nintendo name.

(I'm not expecting miracles in this case: a few decent exclusives is all!)

Look, there's no need to act in complete denial like hardcore Sega Saturn owners circa 1998. The Wii U is a flawed machine that is in serious trouble. I don't want that to be the case either, but denying the state of reality isn't helping matters...

ooh look guys, -2. I've been double NDF'd.

Fucking hell, cant you take a joke, guys? I love Scott's brand of trollism a lot more than a lot of others around here. Chill out a bit. It's not our fault Nintendo are like that drunken uncle at your 16th birthday party showing you all what body popping is all about.

Yeah, fair enough. That was a pretty retarded way to look at ZombiU. That's the whole point of the game, man.

There are plenty of other, more logical angles to attack the WiiU from, not one of the better games that's trying to play to its strengths.

I've honestly no clue who's doing the drive by negging but I think on the whole we're a decent bunch who just don't need telling that Nintendo are struggling. It's still a decent club to be a member of (God have mercy on all souls who sailed on the good ship Jaguar) and it's a really nice change of style in the console market.

The current problems make little difference to me. The last time I was able to live off a Nintendo console as my sole format was back with the NES, so it's business as usual.

But for Nintendo, Wii U is an absolute disaster after the position they gained with Wii. Wii U's fortunes won't be turned around. The Wii userbase went off to iOS and Android. Wii U continues the Nintendo story where GameCube left off.

I'm over that lost opportunity for one of my favourite brands now. It's not like I was never getting a PS4 and I am not found wanting for games to play right now or for the foreseeable future. It's Nintendo's loss, not mine. I'll wait for the next Mario, Zelda, Metroid et al like I always do. They can worry about the gaps they've left.

So you're basically saying you'll buy the console when the big Nintendo games come out... and at the same time you're saying that it's an absolute disaster and you're not interested in it.

Make up your mind.

Also, apparently all DS users moves to iOS and Android and the 3DS was going to be a complete disaster as well...

I'm actually really excited about Wii Party U. The last one was excellent fun. I do hope they expand the number of boards available in the Mario Party style mode, but I guess they'll have Mario Party for that anyway.

There was a mode in Wii Party where you had to leave the room while the other players hid the Wii remotes. You'd then come back in and try to find them, and they'd occasionally make sounds, like a bleating sheep or something. I thought that was hilarious. Especially since Radlord jutted one up the chimney and I was rummaging around in baubles he had as fireplace decoration.

I am 30.

No, I bought it at launch, you big daft cock.

3DS had a USP, as did Wii. Wii U doesn't. We've been playing games on small screens while Eastenders is on the TV for years. Much like GameCube, Wii U basically has a slow drip of Nintendo games to entice the masses. And I no longer care. It's done, it's GameCube 2 and I still own my launch GameCube.

Wii Party was/is amazing. It gets properly competitive with a couple of gamers on it, has a brilliant co-op mode and some decent single-player puzzle/action games - for bonus points it keeps the kids' attention like nothing I've ever seen. We must have racked up 4 or 5 days' playtime on it by now.

Oh, and Party Phil. Party Phil!

I think there'd be a lot of families sold on the charm of Wii U if they were sat down together to play Mario Chase. But it's probably hard to communicate that properly in a 30 second advert or to an individual at a demo pod. They should drive around the UK in a big van, inviting groups of people in to try it.

Uh, they should probably have a table printed ont he outside of the van though to clarify the differences between a Wii U van and The Bang Bus.
