Nintendo Wii U

Does anyone know if HMV would hold stock in reserve for collection, if I were to ring up tomorrow? I won't a tally be able to go down Monday and fear the stock may be gone by then.

Not sure the low prices across the board will hold much longer - if the console gets a shot in the arm at E3 (and that is a big if, I suppose), then retailers may keep faith in it a little longer.

I got HMV to reserve my WiiU (about a week after launch) - just call them up!

Twice I was taught. Once after a comma. No idea where the extra ones come from. Might explain my spazzy driving.

Maybe. Try light tapping of the stick instead of pushing it hard. Very similar to how to use a space bar really. :)

Can you actually drive around normally and stay in lane? I just find it impossible, the slightest touch of the left stick sends me too far and I'm into an over-correction feedback loop. The comparison with Burnout Paradise is quite stark for me. The difference between the two handling models is where my lack of ability really hurts. I can drive around Burnout Paradise effortlessly - weaving in and out of traffic, not hitting things (mostly).

I fully admit to being cack handed and generally avoid any kind of realistic driving game.

I can! The only time I crash is when I don't know where I'm going @120mph. The boost thing's pretty cool for controlling slides.

Not being mean but my four year old was bouncing off the baricades at first but after half an hour he got it. Ages since I played paradise but I don't remember it being different.

Drive the GTR everywhere.

I recall JPickford unable to play PGR or Forza too. Both Criterion and EA know their racers, I can't imagine the controls being bad.

True. I just can't get the hang of realistic racers.

Just had another go. On Burnout Paradise I can tilt the left stick to match the curve of the road. It feels great and really natural. With this, even the tiniest touch is too much. I looked for videos of people playing on Youtube and everyone is all over the place on those, hitting the sides and knocking down every lampost. Maybe that's just the way it's meant to be played.

Anecdote time: My local big sainsbury's (with tellies, white goods, several aisles for clothes etc etc, not just your groceries) has only a few Wii U's on a bottom shelf of their games aisle and only Mario, NintendoLand and ZombiU. All of which are on the same shelf and mixed in with, the Wii games.

Same at my local. Only they ran out of copies of Mario a while ago.

Well if it's in YouTube videos. Sarcasm.

Hitting the sides, no. I don't mind taking out lampposts though.

You know how if you were trying to drive a powerful car at 120mph through a city for the first time, well, it's that.

this is the same for me, burnout feels natural like the car is an extension of the thumbpad...you glide it left and right smoothly. NFS feels like youre trying to control this heavily weighted vehicle that doesnt want to do what its told

Glad it's not just me. I'm definitely not imagining this. Dr Derek Doctors was at a cocktail party at my place last night (name dropping soz) and he had the same problem.

Sorry. I didn't mean it as an argument. I went looking on youtube to see if anyone (anyone) was driving smoothly. Every video I found looked like me driving. Hitting the sides and every single lamp post.

I'm sorry... I tested MW for a bit and it's not hard to drive in the slightest. Have you played nothing but Burnout in the last 20 years? Just seeing all this 'oh the handling!' is just winding me up a bit... I need to learn to relax more.

Maybe you need to eat something nice like a burger and calm down

I left that country for a reason 'bro' ;) But seriously, I'm just confused, I picked it up the first time I touched it, there is nothing unique or odd about the handling model... I gues I'm just confused? I see post after post about how it's really hard to drive in this game, and I'm like 'huh?'

It felt a bit better than Hot Pursuit for me.

I don't think there's anything wrong with not being able to adjust. I really can't get on with the handling in a lot of racing games myself. The thing that bugs me is the insistence on making cars handle authentically outside of your usual sims. The first Colin McRae Rally handled amazingly, and it's got worse in every game since. Purely in the pursuit of realism. It sucks.

It looks like a sequel to Burnout Paradise, everything makes you think you should approach it like Burnout Paradise, but it's not the case. Once I got over that, I rather liked the handling. It's still more arcade than sim.

It's all the modding that bores me senseless.

Finally caved and bought one yesterday... and after much wrangling managed to get the update installed. But what's really irritating me is that I'm having constant network issues even after that. The Connection test says all is fine but I can't access Miiverse, the shop or anything else. Anyone else encountered anything similar?
