Yep. I declined.

Wish I hadn't bought this. It's exactly the same game as Burnout Paradise except the controls feel off. I just zig-zag about crashing all the time. I'm not a massive fan of Burnout Paradise (hate the drive-to-event concept) but I did enjoy bombing about the city.

I was zig zaging around too, crashing every 10 seconds, but got on better with the pro-pad, and the gamepad with motion controls. I went back to the joystick when I sussed out what I was doing wrong - the car I was driving was way way too powerful for me to cope with... Pick a crapper car and it gets easier. Then you'll earn better tyres and other upgrades that make things easier.

Online only asked me for a user name, no other details btw...

Also, you don't have to drive to an event, you can start it straight away by pressing right on the d-pad.

All cars are the same to me. Which is a crap one?

I wonder if it's the lack of analogue acceleration that's bothering me. I just can't follow the roads. I definitely could in Burnout Paradise.

Apparently the controls are completely customisable - you can map accelerate to the right stick if you want analogue control over it. Could be a bit brain-bending, but might be worth a try to see if it helps?

Forgive me as I honestly don't know, but what's so bad about signing up to Origin in this way?

For me there are several small reasons; 1, I don't want to sign up to yet another company service, EA's servers have been hacked recently so thats another place where my personal details can be stolen. 2, Why should I have to give my personal details to EA to get my monies worth from a game when there are plenty of other games available that I can play online without having to do this? 3, The servers are shit and i've read about errors happening where you can't login so can't play online sometimes. 4, Having to come up with yet another password that i'll forget everytime I want to use it, it drives me nuts. 5, I'm a bit skint at the moment, so this is as good an excuse as any to persuade myself not to buy a game I already own. 6, Just because EA.

I will probably buckle and buy it anyway because i'm an idiot like that.

Just come home to MH and NFS prezzies from Mr Postman :omg:

Played nearly 2 hours or so of NFS - looks VERY nice, runs nicely too, though due to a mix of crazy speed and very 'snaky' delayed steering will need more time to form any realistic opinion of the game.

Monster Hunter next, enjoyed the demo more everytime I played it, looking forward to getting stuck in!!

Anybody else with these games feel free to send a friends request!

Bloody typical... Wait weeks (actually months) for a new WiiU release and end up having to cancel the Pre-order on the week of release! :(

Lack of time (and money) has forced me to choose between MH and Lego City... and seeing as I lost a month to MH3 on the Wii a few years back it just had to go!

Accel on on right stick helps a lot for pootling about the city. The real problem remains the steering though. I'm going to boot up Burnout Paradise on PS3 to compare.

Is it the handling you are struggling with? If so try and find yourself a nice Porsche and get used to that to begin with.

It takes a little while to adjust but stick with it and it should start to click. Found Most Wanted to be a fun diversion for a week or so but just lacked the replayability and challenge that the likes of Hot Pursuit offered.

Is handling a different thing to steering? (genuine question)

Ok. Booted up Burnout Paradise on PS3 (after bloody system update) and it's chalk and cheese. I could drive at full pelt for ages without hitting so much as a traffic cone. Left stick steering feels great and very responsive.

In NFS Wii U I'm careering from one collision to the next. I can't follow the lanes as any touch on the left stick results in a crash (ok slight exaggeration but that's what it feels like). It's like the steering is digital as well as the acceleration.

Maybe someone else with both games can confirm I'm not going mad. Burnout looks prettier and less cluttered (easier to read the road). It also runs at the one true framerate which makes a massive difference.

Not in a position to check the difference between the two but Most Wanteds cars definitely feel heavier which can make them seem pretty unresponsive at first.. Which certainly doesn't help when coupled with the cluttered streets.

I certainly didn't have the issues to the extent you are describing, but I remember quite a few others struggling at first. Again all I can really suggest is to give it a bit of time and see if you can adjust to the pace.

Also not sure if there are any kind of steering sensitivity options you can tinker with (don't think I ever checked on 360)

Surely it's something they should have had sorted by now. Working with the BBC etc. it's perfectly easy considering they've had Netflix and Lovefilm clients since day one.

Could it be that they feel it would conflict with with WiiTV stuff that's not out yet? Or could it evem be part of that?

I think the problem is that the handling model has been tweaked because you're using real cars. The 360 demos of both Criterion NFS games didn't handle like Burnout at all.

Makes sense. Looks like I'll be trading it in.

The upside is we're all having a blast on Burnout Paradise.

Downloaded tank tank tank yesterday and played it with my 6 year old. He pretty much loves it. One button and you get to blow shit up.

I bought King Kong mode which is pretty decent fun where one of you gets to play a giant Kong like character and the rest of you have to take him down. Kings control is satisfying but so far it seems a little stacked against him but that might be because my kid keeps wanting to be kong and he's shit.

I reckon we will get some more enjoyment out of it but on a more advanced level there is no finesse that I can see and a total lack of any depth whatsoever. As it is though, if you have kids or a load of mates who want to play local player you can get the game , Kong mode and a few of the extra monster levels for about £12 and that seems decent enough value.
