Nintendo Wii U

They need to get their own PSN plus service going and then offer these older ports cheap/free. there is clearly an audience who are happy to wait an age before playing some of these games, judging by the amount of people who cream themselves over free old stuff that appears on PSN.

Mass Effect 3 for free vs a £50 re release on the WIi U. Hmm. Sleeping dogs wasn't that old when it came onto PS+ either. Seems a bit rich to be laughing at PS+ because it gets a 6 month old game for free when the console you're trying to big up doesn't even have the game.

And wouldn't these current games be aimed at all the diehards who don't game on other systems too?, not everybody owns multiple systems. And there is the whole Blue Ocean upgrade thing Nintendo seem intent on promoting with their sequels to yesterday's big thing, some of those people might be enticed to try some of these more trad efforts, or are we going to fall back on the "they all already left the Wii and bought a PC/PS3/X360" line of thinking, which effectively means Nintendo are fucked by that angle too.

I see what you're saying but surely nobody skipped a 360 or ps3 to own a Wii U, it would be crazy. Even Scott would admit the entire library of the 360 or ps3 games beats that of the Wii U.

You really don't know Scott, do you?

Developers Are Running Out Of Fake Excuses For Not Porting Games To The Wii U

Developers like Kojima Productions, Crystal Dynamics and Konami have all given excuses for not porting games to the Wii U. Other developers say they are using up all the good fake excuses to avoid saying porting to the Wii U is a bad business move.

A spokesperson from Bungie spoke to press today about why Destiny is not receiving a Wii U port. He says, “I don’t want to say it would be a bad business move since the Wii U isn’t selling well and we at Bungie believe it’s not a bad business move. I’m just going to say it’s currently not in our best interest.”

When asked for more details as to why Bungie made this decision, he replied, “The screen controller is just not good for Destiny.” When told that the Wii U GamePad has all the same buttons as the Xbox or PlayStation controllers, he responded, “Well, we just don’t have the resources.” Pressed further for more details, the spokesperson hesitated and then declined to speak anymore about the subject.

Capcom producer Yoshinori Ono explained why Capcom has been so reluctant as to give detailed reasons for not porting games to the Wii U. Ono says, “The 3DS is such a great system which is why we want to keep those doors open. Nintendo and Capcom are best friends and sometimes friends lie to each other because that’s what friends do.”

“I mean, this is the same thing with the Vita,” he continues, “We love the PS4. We just never talk about the Vita to avoid the same situation. Unlike the Wii U, no one cares about Vita ports so it’s much easier to avoid the problem.” When asked about what the Vita’s problem is, Ono replied, “There is no problem with the Vita, it’s just currently not in our best interest.”

EA CEO John Riccitiello also talked about Wii U ports saying, “The only reason we don’t even talk about the Wii U is because I hate dealing with Nintendo fans. I would rather give out fake excuses than have to put up with them.”

This weekend I will be back on the wiiu, cant decide between the time investment of MH or my first lego game.

Its the best time try monster hunter, lots of new players, online will be busy, seems intrest here for R'mukers to help out. Good choice either way.

Edit : tank tank tank is great as a free to play /if you can get cheap. multi player fun only, simple Controls, easy to pick up and play, fun.

Is MH playable without the wiimote&nunchuck, I only have the screeenpad and may well jump in on some of this...the intro trailer sold me along with the growing rllmuk interest.

You can't use the wiimote and nunchuck so you'll be ok.

Despite maybe two full hours of my first evening with the Wii U being update downloads I really had a good bit of fun with it. Doing daft wee drawings back and forth with some friends and exploring a bit on that Street View app (which is far more entertaining than it really ought to be) was ace. It's good to have the SNES Fzero on there as well; I'll consider getting properly into that since I obsessed over the first GBA version quite a bit.

Bought Chasing Aurora too after liking the look and feel of the demo and seeing it was just over a fiver.

What the hell is Tank! Tank! Tank!?

Also, I linked my Wii U to my club Nintendo account but the point for registering the Wii U haven't credited the account. Does it take a while or did I do something wrong/not do something obvious?

Didn't turn Nintendoland on at all, but had a quick stint on Mario, taking turns with the lady. Played up to the end of the first world. Pretty gentle introduction so far, but it looks so very good. The colours definitely seem more muted on the gamepad though.

I get that I AM ERROR guy from Zelda 2 a lot on the Club Nintendo site. It was a nice touch the first time, but now I'm sick of him.

Also, the girl I like asked in horror if ERROR's right hand was his penis and thus ruined my childhood forever.

Shopto did the business and Need For Speed arrived today. Had about an hour on it, and so far, very, very impressive!

Graphics are raw dropping, textures are really sharp, frame rate is a rock solid 30fps, lighting is great, dust and particle effects are really good too. On the gamepad it looks the business too... had loads of cops chasing me at one point with no slow down...

I tried the gamepad using the sticks at first, seemed mega-resposive, then tried the pro-pad which was great (good strong rumble too). The father/son mode works really well, with nice day to night cycle. Then I noticed motion control as an option for the game pad, which works great - at least as good as the pro wheel xbox add-on... might play the whole game this way.

Other quick points -

Loading times were pretty quick. There is a update on first play. Voice chat via the gamepad is an option.

Looks like loads of content too.

Overall, looks like a really good purchase.

Let me know if you folks want to race online...

I normally wouldn't care about a new Need For Speed. It's amazing what new console mania does to a man. I'm still gonna try my best not to buy it, but it does look like a nice shiny game to get for my new toy. I did like Burnout up til Burnout 3, but this is more like Paradise, right?

I've also got NFS coming from Shopto so add me if you haven't already done so (Sygnar) for online shenanigans. I may not be on until tomorrow though due to our rabbit meeting and subsequently eating the Gamepad AC Adapter cable (I kid you not), and now having to wait until Game send me their unofficial shit replacement. Nintendo are sending me a replacement that will take "anywhere between two and four weeks" to arrive. Of all the week's for such a disaster to occur!
