Wii U Virtual Console

Punch Out!! Featuring Mr. Dream (Nintendo, €0.30 / £0.30) — This will be cheaper than a chocolate bar for one month as part of the Famicom Anniversary promotion on the Wii U eShop. It's an iconic NES classic, and we'll get the gloves on to let you know how well it translates to the Wii U Virtual Console. Oh, and one more thing, deep breath Europe... it's the 60Hz version once again, giving you the full-fat and full-speed experience. Begin hyperventilation now.

Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate Packet Relay Tool for Nintendo 3DS (Capcom, free) — This tool will allow you, with a Wii/Wii U LAN adapter, to play your 3DS copy of Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate in online matches — though it has to be the only software running on the Wii U for it to work.

Wii U Retail Download

Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate (Capcom, €59.99 / £49.99) — Available for download and in stores from22nd March, this is an expanded version of the Wii original with additional content and upgraded HD visuals. We certainly think the upgrade is worth it, as we explain in our Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate review.

Need for Speed: Most Wanted U (Electronic Arts, €59.99 / £44.99) — With lead development by Criterion — the team that produced last year's popular release on Xbox 360 and PS3 — as well as exclusive features, there's certainly optimism that this will be a racing title worth owning on Wii U. It arrives on the eShop and in stores on 22nd March, and we'll also be reviewing it to let you know what we think.

3rd party releases port of game that most core gamers, if they are interested in playing it at all, have already played

game is currently available for about 10 quid on other cheaper platforms

3rd party game does not sell well

3rd party decided never to make WiiU game again...

WiiLULz etc

This thread made me turn mine on last night to see what was going on in the eShop, not much. I then spent a while drawing pictures of link and tried out the Skype-style thing - which is actually really nice if I knew anybody with a Wii U to call. I got some 'yeahs' for my doodles though, so not a totally wasted evening...

They need to get their own PSN plus service going and then offer these older ports cheap/free. there is clearly an audience who are happy to wait an age before playing some of these games, judging by the amount of people who cream themselves over free old stuff that appears on PSN.

If I could apply all the weight to the gut alone I would. You can make Miis look kinda chubby at least; I tried to fatten up my xbox avatar so I could get a Street Fightin' Rufus costume on him, but he still looked too light to be a plus size model.

It's a very odd port. Not exactly something that people have been clamouring for.

Surely it would have made more sense for Squeenix to have thrown the people who have done the port on to a port of Tomb Raider instead.

Further to that, just why haven't Nintendo, who knew this machine was on it's way for ages, gone to every big third party who are releasing something this year (Bioshock Infinite, MGS:R, Grid 2, Tomb Raider, Remember Me, Dead Island Riptide, Dragon's Dogma Dark Arisen etc etc) and thrown money at them to get a version on the Wii U? With a raft of third party titlles like that they would not have had to be so reliant on 1st and 2nd party exclusives which we are all hoping are going to materialise at E3.

I just don't get it.
