Nintendo Wii U

There's much more possibilities though... I'd like to see them combine card games with NFC. I wuite enjoy a good card game like Magic... If i build a deck through trading or winning, itd be cool if i could then go online with that deck just by holding it next to my controller. Sky landers has shown one very successful way of doing it, but there's are others.

You could buy a Lego kit where each brick had an NFC chip, build up your wee vehicle and mini figure and import it into a game (for example)...(you'd have to work our how the bricks are connected each other, but that wouldnt be hard...

I think it's fair to say that we wait and see what they do... Nintendo will have seen Skylanders and, like Disney, are sitting on a gold mine of recognisable franchises.

I'll give Nintendo the benefit of the doubt for the time being - but I would like to see my wee purchasables transferable across games. The problem with Skylanders and the Disney game is that if I move between them, I need to unplug the portal and get out a dedicated range of characters. Nintendo have an opportunity to have their plastic mans appear across different games. Which, I know my son would really enjoy. I'd rightfully be up in arms though if the SSB roster was all locked away behind plastic figure purchases.

Kid Icarus, where I buy little power ups and have to fit them into a box...

Stickers with NFC in them.. I get a book of stickers and plaster them onto some thing to pass into my game. I go to a pals house and take my book of stickers and import something into their game.

I DON'T KNOW

None of these are good ideas.

I don't know why anyone would actually want Nintendo to go ahead and implement NFC tat style DLC in games which just don't need it. Except shareholders I guess. I was really happy to see Nintendo talk about their unwillingness to adopt DLC strategies like that in the 3DS Animal Crossing, a game which would very easily rake in cash that way, because they felt it would cheapen player perception of the franchise/company and harm future sales.

Their current attitude toward DLC seems to be that they would not implement it unless it provides worthwhile. I hope they stick with that. I got a lot of value from the NSMB2 DLC, and the NSMB U DLC looks to be a more significant take on that. As far as I know the Fire Emblem DLC was pretty well received too.

I think it's more your problem than theirs

I was hoping we'd get a few more posts in before someone pointed that out :)

But anyway, historically you'd probably have been right about that. Moving forwards, I'm not so sure. Certainly it's been harder for them to court the early adopters with their current philosophy than it has been in the past.

Not that I don't love the Wii U, because I do.

First Nintendo game using NFC has been announced.

Just getting word in that the game is to utilise NFC by collecting figures for 200 Yen at the Pokémon Centers for sale. This will bring certain Pokémon into the game.

The game is also due for release in Japan on April 24th for 1800 Yen

Story wise, the toy Pokémon have been lost from the shop after falling in the river. The task is to get back to the Toy Shop, while facing various bosses such as Chandelure.

Figure-wise, 6 standard figures, as well as 1 special figure, will be for sale on launch day. The figures not only activate the Pokémon, but you can store their battle data on the figures themselves!

I am legit shook.
