Nintendo Wii U

I am going to buy both Monster Hunter and Lego this month. However having read ONM's MH review (78%) and Edge's Lego critique my excitement at having some games to play on my Wii U has been tempered a little.

Still good though. Not played a MH game before which wipes out one of the big criticisms of it being a 3 year old game. And I've not really trusted Edge's sense of fun for years. Heres hoping.

I don't care, I still want it and it still isn't out. "Minor delay"? Fuck that - it's been over a month.

With this and the Legends change of schedule it seems Nintendo are not being helped by the 3rd parties at the mo.

I might have to get the MH demo as tbh, I've pretty much agreed with Edge in regards to the Lego games, I'd probably give them all middling scores, they're good but they aren't AMAZE or anything. If it had pad play, I might be a bit more tempted to just potter about on it but dunno... Luigi's is also out this month too.

Nintendo can't schedule (or organise third parties) for shit.

Yeah, they should have asked scottcr or rgraves to write a review instead.

You know Nap, you don't half post a lot in this thread for somebody who apparently has no interest in either the Wii U or Nintendo's current output. You're pretty close to being a big enough fun vacuum to cancel even Scott and me combined out.

You don't like Nintendo, we get it. We got it a long time ago. Go find somewhere else to play instead of constantly hanging around the Wii U thread trying to convince folk they're not having fun either.

Do be aware that ONM recent changed their scoring system. Anything over 70% is now well worth getting, and stuff that would have previously got 90+ are getting 75-85 now.

Oh, I thought this was a discussion forum instead of a fanclub. I'm interested in videogames and all manufacturers/platforms and I like discussing their successes as much as their failures. Deal with it.

And don't come up with stuff like "you don't like Nintendo, we get it" - first of all, I do like Nintendo when they're doing stuff right. You'll find plenty of praise from me for their handheld output for example. Second of all, the word "we" implies that you're some kind of spokesperson, but you're not.

I'll deal with that, if you can deal with me and Scott (and anyone else in this thread) being positive - which you don't seem to be able to do without having to constantly snipe or intimate that they're wrong in some way.

There is a difference between being positive and being blindly loyal to a brand. It's the latter I poke fun at, the first is something I can only applaud.

ONM arrived this morning. 90% for Lego City Undercover.

Wow. That means they think its absolutely brilliant. I like ONM but with that compared with the Edge score I am slightly suspicious. Especially as Nintendo were basically hoping that this was going to be the BIG third party exclusive that was going to save them for the next few months. It's like Zombie U all over again.

I am sure LCU is going to be good though. I can't wait to pick it up and will be interested to see what other mags give it.

Thats interesting. I noticed it still had a 'bronze award'. And stops official mags giving ridiculous 98% scores for things. Thanks.

i totally see naps point of view. and i say that as a wii-u owner.

despite me enjoying the console, i find the way nintendo have dealt with its launch and line up very frustrating.

the wii u's dog slow interface, the confusing marketing, the lack of games (is anyone really excited about another Lego game, really?), and the disappointing third party support.

i know nintendo are going to release some gems on this console, and its worth the price just for that - but I wish they would get on with it and give more people reasons to buy one.

Was that a news flash? Because I don't think anybody has mentioned any of that before.

Yes, really. And have been since before it was announced as a Wii U exclusive.

Hell, I was really looking forward to Lego Harry Potter 2 even though I can't stand anything Harry Potter related.

I loves me some Lego games, I do.

Sad for the Lego score, seems like it was the big hope around here :(

Come now. It's like the same comments when Zombie U got some 5's before everybody started loving it and other reviews gave it 8's and 9's. Edge can be a bunch of joyless so and sos a lot of the time.

I don't think it helps getting the same score as Colonial Marines which has been universally panned and berated. I am fairly confident that LCU will be decent fun. Maybe just not the next GTA. Then again I didn't like GTA4 and have no excitement for GTA5 so maybe I will love it.

That Google Street app is keeping me preoccupied while I wait for good games to turn up. I don't need an open world LEGO game when I've got this open world to explore instead.

The day you can start driving around Google Street View and shooting people is the day actual games become obsolete.

WTF?

I assumed it was just Street View using the controller and didn't bother downloading. How are you getting entertainment out of it? What am I missing?
