Nintendo Wii U

You misunderstand my point. It's a multiformat game, it doesn't need motion controls or touch screen additions - just releasing it with off-TV play as the only Wii U specific feature is fine for games like that.

me and my boy will have a riot with Lego City... we'll be like the WiiU advert, except ugly and ginger (well - me anyway) - and a really messy lounge.

You know its single player right? Not being able to play it with m daughter is a real let down

So the worst lego game (probably, havent checked) ever? I find that hard to believe. Is it worth a trip to Smiths or is Edge cheapskate proof?

Nah, Lego Batman got a 5, LotR not much better with 6. Star Wars Collection and its 7 is the highest Edge has gone for the series to date.

Do devs get that off-screen play is a good enough draw?

They do get that. It's just that when they say "We didn't do a Wii U version because we couldn't think of any way to properly implement the GamePad to do the Wii U justice" (or whatever), what they really mean is "We're not touching the Wii U, it's too much of a bother for too few sales". They just don't say that, to avoid annoying Nintendo (and, to an extent, to avoid annoying Wii U owners). It's the "I'm sorry, I'm washing my hair tonight" of developer excuses.

Well, quite. Except it makes them sound stupid. Personally I don't care if multiformat games are coming out on the Wii U now or not, it's just that publishers and developers are a bit two faced when it comes to it. Then they wonder why gamers don't 'support' them.

Thinking about getting a wii u US console and wondered if anyone has managed to source an official nintendo wii u psu assuming these can be used the same way as you could swap on a US wii.Dont fancy using a stepdown as using a multiplug.

Is there any benefit of buying a US console over a UK machine these days.

Apparently if you talk to Nintendo Customer Service, they'll sort you out. You'll need a PSU for the Gamepad as well though so might cost you.

As for any benefit, not that I know of. Balloon Fight on the VC was 50Hz but F-Zero was 60Hz. Fuck knows what the standard VC fare will be like and games aren't necessarily cheaper, you can pick up Wii U games for £18 new if you shop around (barring the Nintendo stuff).

Release dates aren't too bad either, maybe a week in it? Except Scribblenauts but that was a Europe-wide thing, not just Nintendo.

Out of curiosity why do you want to get a US Wii U?

I got F-Zero for 30p, was that a genuine price or a cock-up? I paid for it on my credit card as well, which made me feel almost guilty.

Amazingly, it's in 60hz. I wouldn't mind keeping a WiiU purely as a virtual console machine if they're planning on sticking their back catalog on there in 60hz versions.

It's a special promotion Nintendo are running.
