Tomorrow on the eShop. Looks like a good week! (From Nintendolife)

Wii U Virtual Console

F-Zero (Nintendo, €0.30 / £0.30) — The second game in the Family Computer 30th Anniversary Campaign, this classic SNES racer brings futuristic tracks and vehicles travelling at ludicrous speeds. It is, in our opinion a stone-cold classic, and the terrific news for Europeans is that Nintendo is releasing the 60Hz version of the game familiar to those in North America, so we'll be able to play the game at full speed for a cost of less than a chocolate bar. You can check out our Wii Virtual Console F-Zero reviewto see how highly we think of it, and we'll race through this full-fat faster Wii U version for our upcoming review.

Wii U Retail Demo

Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate (Capcom, Free) — Arriving in Europe in around a month, this enhanced and expanded version of the Wii title has a free sample on offer to tempt you into picking up the new iteration. This'll offer a chance to slay some monsters and try it out for free, to see whether the taste for the hunt makes the full release tough to ignore. We were able to slay some monsters in December, so you can also check out our Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate first impressions of you want to know what we thought.

Wii U eShop Discounts

Trine 2: Director's Cut (Frozenbyte, €12.49, (was €16.99) / £9.99, (was £13.99)) — While last week we were led to believe that this title was having a permanent price cut to these rates, it now seems that it's reduced to these prices until 7th March. We'll ask for clarification, but at the very least it's still going to be available at this lower rate for a further two weeks. We certainly fee that it's an adventure worth taking on, and you can check out our Trine 2: Director's Cut review to see why.

Mighty Switch Force: Hyper Drive Edition (WayForward Technologies, €4.99, (was €9.99) / £4.49, was £8.99)) — This one gets a 50% discount until 28th February, offering an expanded version of the 3DS eShop release with additional level variations and updated visuals. It takes an excellent handheld title and gives it a welcome polish, as our Mighty Switch Force: Hyper Drive Edition reviewexplains.

Well yeah, a WiiU ambassador program of GC and N64 games would have been nice but I can't see it happening if it hasn't already. Unless they're planning it as an E3 announcement for ne wpurchasers so that you will get a load of games on your WiiU if you buy it or have bought it prior to the others coming out.

Still doubt it will happen though.

They must do it due to rights issues but you think there'd be a better solution. Every generation changover theres the same discussion and people say..really...50hz issues...still? Like when the PAL PS3 ran in 50hz for every game over SD. Surely to god the PS4 wont support RF or shitty AV cables, and 50hz tvs.

F-Zero being one of my favourite SNES games that I've never bought I'm certainly not going to get sniffy about getting it on my Wii U for 30 pence, man you can't even get a chocolate bar for that price nowadays. Pad play is the icing on the cake.

Wife: "Do you mind if I watch Eastenders"

Me: "Not at all my love, I'm off to Mute City"

I think you're missing a whole lot of zeroes from that number :P

People still use CRTs, and still plug in HD-capable devices using composhite, so I don't doubt they will be supported. CRT sales are still in the Millions every year, it ain't even dead still.

I'd be very surprised if at this stage of the console's life, someone has a Wii U, an Wi-Fi Internet connection and a CRT incapable of supporting 60Hz.

Wait a minute, is the VC on Gamepad thing being implemented tomorrow as well?

The new eShop VC releases have the functionality built-in. You'll be able to pay to upgrade your Wii Shop VC purchases as the new versions become available.

Oh, I thought they were doing an update to the system so that you could download (and pay for) updates to existing games, similar to the updates you can get on the 3DS eshop. That's a bit of a shame that it only happens as and when a new version will come out. Looks like I'm not going to be playing the WiiVC C64 California Games on the gamepad any time soon :(

You have to use a credit/debit card or an eShop card. If you're using the former, you can pay the exact amount.

Does it store your card details and make it a pain in the arse to remove, like Microsoft? Or is it like the Wii, where you have to enter it every single time?

I had to replace an expired card this morning, so it's fresh in my memory.

You can optionally remember a single MasterCard or Visa and protect it with a password up to 8 characters. You can remove the card anytime you like and you don't need the password to do so. You're asked when you're buying something if you want to use the stored card or another one. Works the same on the 3DS from what I remember.

It still has to support all the 50Hz only Wii games released and all the 50Hz only VC games, so I think it would be safe to assume even the Wii U supports 50Hz output. 50Hz isn't going anywhere, and I've always gone 60Hz when I can, but I'm not going to complain about 50Hz being supported.

Nobody ever complains about 50hz being supported, they complain when it's the only option.

I was responding to angel's post, where he was complaining about 50Hz:
