Nintendo Wii U

releasing NFS, Lego City and Monster hunter at the exact same time is daft... since folks like EA are only interested in how fast it screams out of the gate...

It is a shame - if just one of them could have been dragged forward a month I think it would have been beneficial to all three of them.

Nintendo really can't schedule for shit and it must be hurting their relationship with devs.

Well only one of them is a Nintendo published release (Lego) - they can't really dictate to either Capcom (MH3) or EA (NFSMWU) on when to release their titles.

Capcom lose out for me - I'm much more likely to pick up Lego City & NFS than I am MH3 at this point.

Well it is Nintendo as they should be communicating better with devs. You don't think devs or publishers actually like going head to head do you? Nintendos March 3ds line up is a joke, MH, Luigi, Harmo Knights, Castlevania etc all out that month. After (imo) a barren 6 months for the machine. Pathetic.

now - if a game has long legs, retains its pricing and continues to sell - that's fine. But companies like EA have ADHD and if it doesn't sell to 70% of the platformer owners within 2 weeks they declare it a failure, shove it in the bargain bucket and cancel projects. That's the problem.

As a result... I *know* that NFS is the most likely out of those 3 to be discounted faster... and as a result, it's the one I'm more likely to wait to buy...

it's a downward spiral.

Wow, Nintendo fans salivating over an EA Need for Speed trailer and game. I'm pretty sure you guys used to not give a shit about such mass market, "generic" franchises back when Nintendo were still pumping out timely and quality content.%2

Piss off - Burnout has always been great...

Somebody cleared up some of the misconceptions around EA and their annual games, good news, TW15 is a definite:

TW 14 is 100% not coming to WiiU. FACT!

(sorry if harsh, but its true)

but TW 15... Well lets just say that is a different story ;)

no no no!

its more a matter of where to invest in right now. Do you rework your gen3 games to work on WiiU (which is struggling and not the home of the EA sports demographic) OR do you prepare your franchises for the upcoming boxes (taht do house EA sports fans)?

They can always port frojm Gen3 to WiiU later... but only one chance to jump to "next Gen" with consumers on Orbis/Durango.

Its just playing the odds.

For what it's worth, it's good news that there are future plans moving forward.

Basically yes was a tight timeline to deliver a quality experience. Nintendo was too tight lipped for too long. Believe it or not EA plans its iterative titles about a year in advance, so when you are planning a new SKU to support and you have nothing but big question marks you tend to worry.

I think it was the right call in the end. Unless yall wanted a gimped version with last minute gamepad gimmicks :/

But next year.... :D

Yep, Wiiu support was decided franchise by franchise (or busines unit really).

You had to see a profit or it was a no go. And unless it was only at the VERY senior level there was no butthurt over origin. Thats all just the web making things dramatic.

This thread is funny. I explain how EA uses the term "Gen" from a decade of first hand experience and put it in simple context yet everyone disregards and continues to speculate.

What i said is the simple cut and dry of how EA does it. Not a guess or what I read, but years and years of being part of it. That's just how they do and it does not look to have changed :P

And I can say this with certainty EA is going to be supporting the Wii U with some franchises that have not made it to the console yet. Just do not expect them to be ports of their current Gen4 titles... at least not yet.

TL;DR: Blame Nintendo secrecy for why Tiger Woods 14 isn't coming to Wii U

And the source is legit, he provided some early Wii U hardware stuff. I always thought he worked for WB Montreal considering his username

and yet another reason it probably won't do as well as it deserves to... I want it on WiiU though.

BECAUSE IM A CRAZY FOO

You're mad to wait for months to buy this full price when you can have it now for less than half. Also, if the comments in the NFS:MW thread are anything to go by, it isn't even that good a game to start with. I skipped it, while I loved the old Burnouts and NFS Hot Pursuit

It does have better textures though. I thought Nintendo fans didn't care about graphics.

I do think heads need to roll at NoA espically in their marketing department. I suppose the one saving grace is that nintendo managed to turn the 3ds around after a bad first few months. As bad as january was though february is probably going to be worse. March should be much better though with a number of good releases.
