Nintendo Wii U

Nice troll there angel.

Anyway it's using the PC assets so the textures are much better. Shadows also seem better as well. A very very nice port and it seems they really thought about the game and how to make it better for the WiiU.

Im not trolling, it's just about on a par.

I'm not sure people are reading what I said, or my writing leaves much to be desired (probably this).

I'm saying stuff won't be cancelled, because conversion between similar heavyweight platforms is infinitesimal compared to the development costs. Ports are a no brainer - regardless of how far ahead one platform is.

Or am I misunderstanding what you're saying?

Probably not. I think I misunderstood what you were saying.

You think that given how similar the MS and Sony's machines will be next gen, that despite any sales disparity, 3rd parties will still release each game on each system. Is that right?

You're probably right thinking now how close they'll be in actual structure and probably how cheap it will be to develop for both of them.

Sounds like a perfect segway into this Trine 2 Review which went up on my site today to take into account the patch.

great review!

I can't see the video, I'm at work. Ok doke i'll take the words for it. More RAM - better textures then?

ok - so you're completely dismissing the fact that it may actually be superior. What's wrong with you man!?

I thought neogaf settled this on the gpu at least? Likely a modest jump in gflops with a load of weird secret sauce. Well, well shy of the next ps or Xbox but definitely a jump over current gen.

You can't look at ports if the underlying architecture is different.

Pretty sure they haven't settled anything yet. Been reading the thread every other day or so. Nothing seems concrete.

Well, more RAM for textures doesn't make it comprable to Orbis does it.

I know you desperately desperately want the WiiU to fail and burn in the pits of hell to be forgotten forever and for Nintendo to go third party so you can play their games on the next PlayStation... but really... you're almost as bad as me!

That need for speed vid looks great, knew it would take a brit dev to do a port properly. ;)

I do hope it sells well though, otherwise all their effort will be in vain. If I was Nintendo I'd even offer to help pr the title. They need titles and more importantly 'effort' like this.

I hope it sells well to but doubt it will. Surely anyone interested in the title would have already picked it up on the other consoles. Plus when it comes out it'll be either £40 for the WiiU version or £20 for the other versions.

This isn't a dig at the Wii U, more at third parties who may blame the low sales of such a game on the Wii U when it's released half a year late and is more expensive than the version already available I loved the game but, even if I owned a Wii U, I wouldn't be picking it up again.

Strawman? I've never said that, I even listed my Nintendo machines and games, ie a lot of them.

and this is correct - I'm one of those crazy types who waited on it because I knew it was coming out on the WiiU - but there's some fundamental problems.

It's available on other platforms for half the price.

It's releasing in the same bloody week as Monster Hunter and Lego City.

That's 3 must have titles released at the same time.

owning them makes you burn though...

Nobody is claiming that. It makes it better than 'on a par' which you are claiming.

Im speculating...it seems its around current gen power, but with more ram, I think thats fair. Processing wise it's similar, but the games can look good in the right hands with the extra texture memory. Thats it, no agenda.

Hardly, I love Metroid, Mariokart, Zeldas, Castlevanias, SNES is probably my 2nd best console ever, im a game fan not a company fan.

That's like David Cameron saying he has lots of black friends.

It also features better lighting, better draw distance as well Also the night system is apparently the best one they have done. It's hardly small beans and it's not just down to having more ram.

No, I got that :) That's what I mean, if you know a game isn't going to sell for less than half the release price after 2 months, you have to be extremely incentivised to buy that title, otherwise it's a no brainer, yeah?

As for the title, do they mean Black Ops 2?

He said it was highly rated and I assume popular on other formats if they expected good sales. So the shortlist consists of:

NBA 2K13

Darksiders 2

Batman

AC 3

BLOPS 2

All of which, apart from Darksiders 2, have moved very good volume on rival systems.

John Madden 06, despite having a much worse metascore than the last gen versions, had a 55% attach rate at launch and sold 178K in the first week alone.
