Nintendo Wii U

Well he does have a point, without spending time coming up with exclusive novel uses for the WUP, some people do like to complain about lack of effort as a result, I suppose he could have just said the Cost–Benefit Analysis said no.

Well if true, what the heck is the Square-Enix game currently being ported to Wii U if not this one, a Japanese title?

I never understand this apparent need for a title to utilise everything on any new controller. Why not just port it over as it is (because you've already created a great game right Mr Developer so the current version is ace even without these wonderful added bits), with nothing else added other than the ability to play it on the gamepad alone - it would be the version I'd pick.

NOTE TO ALL DEVELOPERS - don't assume we want you to shoe-horn stuff in just for the sake of it. If your game is good enough as it is, be brave enough to admit that and just bring it over (with the ability to play it on the gamepad alone obv). Don't feel like you have to add things for no reason other than you can. If it's the same as the other releases, then it's exactly that - the same (with the mentioned added bonus of off-tv play). It's not somehow worse for not having rushed tacked-on content.

Well if you look at the ports available, making novel use of the WUP does seem to be some sort of requirement, no matter how throwaway that implementation is, maybe it's even in the requirements or the marketing department has data proving that is the case.

Pad streaming play is simple to implement, if the dev quote is literally true (2 lines of code), but nobody considers that enough.

I'd really like a zelda 1 nes release for WiiU with map on either screen swappage. Miiverse would be perfect for this sort of game which often leaves you wondering where to go next. Tried it on 3DS for the first time having never played it before ( I was all about mario and turtles back then) and found myself on gamefaqs so much that I just felt dirty and stopped playing at around the 7th dungeon. Miiverse takes away a lot of the guilt since everyone has instant access to it.

Zen`s twitter appears to show a 31st Jan release date for anyone else interested. With interesting gamepad features! As mentioned earlier, portrait view is all we need.

The eShop/Nintendo's servers were down for maintenance last night. I'm pretty sure there was no update, and the Wii U was just bugging out because it couldn't establish a proper connection to their side to check for anything new.

I'm actually a bit disappointed I didn't get Trine 2 for it's £8.99 sale price because I've now also got my premium points fiver off voucher too, using a voucher to get it for the same price it was a week ago seems idiotic. Knowing my luck it will never be reduced again.

That premium points thing is a bit of a false economy as it is but there you go.

While I'm here, is Ass Creed III a buggy mess on Wii U as it is on everything else? Does it have any novel gamepad usage? I liked the others but held off after all of the woeful feedback in it's own thread but I'm slightly tempted.

Have to say now the initial launch period is over the next few months are looking very strong indeed for this system.

Just did a frightening total up of all the stuff I've got Pre-ordered, and if those release dates stick its going to be an incredible (and expensive) next 5-6 months! ... Pretty much all platform exclusives too which is nice.

So yeah still very much 'ing the WiiU at the moment!

There certainly seems to be something going on, as the developer of 'The 90's Arcade Racer' has just dropped a huge hint that his game is now coming to Wii U as well as PC/Mac/Linux:

Since the project went live there have been some very exciting developments that I can't talk about yet but the game could be heading for the TV. This is not a one person project anymore and I hope U Wiil stay tuned for more news. In the meantime I've added a couple more screenshots on the main page.
