Anyone having a problem with the connection to the Gamepad? Turned it on tonight and sitting 6-8 feet from the console, in the same room, and the Gamepad kept losing the connection to the console. Extremely frustrating, I eventually just gave up when I was looking forward to playing the Sonic demo.

Had this here, it ended up being some kinda interferance from other devices in the room. Only thing that fixed it for us was physically moving the Wii U itself away from the TV. Just a few feet did it. Not had the gamepad cut out since.

Can't you play online with a 3DS if a Wii U is hosting a game?

No :-( you can play local multilayer with 1 wiiu and up to 3 3ds's connected together. Wii U has hd too! You can transfer saves across versions if you want to double dip.

Its been working since launch though! Was also after a hard reset. I'll try it again tonight and see if it was just a one off thing.

Anyone getting odd sound glitches with their machine?

I'm using the HDMI cable that came with the machine and the sound straight from the TV and it's set to Stereo in the options.

I've had two instances where the sound has been fucked up. The first time there was just no sound. This continued until I unplugged the HDMI cable from the TV and plugged it into another HDMI input. I then switched it back to the original input and all was fine. Then last night, turned the machine on and got nothing but a high pitched whine. Reset the machine, unplugged the HDMI from TV and machine but still getting it until, once again, plugging it into a different input solved the problem and it stayed fixed when I moved it back to the original input.

I don't know whether it's the input on the TV or the HDMI cable or the machine itself that's causing the issue.

Anyone had anything similar?

I'm definitely going to double dip so me and the missus can play together at home but it's a shame there's no way at all the 3DS can take it online.

Played Nintendoland with a mate of mine last night... He loves his gaming but really can't stand kiddie Nintendo stuff...

Anyway, he thought the Zelda game was rubbish. Same for Metroid. But he absolutely loved Fzero and Luigis Mansion. And the ninja one.

Fzero is great to watch. Makes the player look really skilful dodging stuff at the last minute with their look of concentration on the screen at he same time.

March right?

What exactly is this game about? I know it's huge in JPY but what is so good about it? I've had it on my radar for a while but haven't really read much into it.

Smash giant monsters, get loot. It's more nuanced than that but I've never really played a Monster Hunter game myself, I just couldn't get my hands around the claw grip needed for the PSP version and I never got round to getting it on the Wii or PS3.

The thought of having MH on the 3DS, building up the character and then transferring the save to the WiiU for playing online is great. Means my partner won't get pissed off with me sat on the WiiU upstairs all night and I can level up sat on the sofa.

So far I have NSMBu, Zombieu, Nintendoland and Sonic racing. Is there anything in the pipeline over the next few months that I should consider?

The Wonderful 101, from Platinum Games. It looks like a wonderful blend of Viewtiful Joe, Pikmin, Guardian Heroes and Katamari Damacy, with a little sprinkling of Okami.

This is the video that made me want to get a Wii U:

It better not fucking suck, or just be average or whatever.

Thinking about Trine2, it looks beautiful.

Trine 2 is well worth a look. I sang its praises quite regularly in the main thread.

As for future releases, as others have said, main ones (im after) are Rayman Legends in Feb, Monster Hunter in March and Wonderful 101 hopefully shortly after that. If you've got other consoles Id say a "big" game a month is spot on, as you can easily fill the quiet time with backlogs from other systems.

In the immediate future 'The Cave" will be my next purchase.. Looks a perfect fit for the gamepad.

Safe to say I'm still totally loving the WiiU, plus the fact that games of Mario Chase with the little one have now become part of our daily routine justifies the purchase entirely!

Are Nintendo going to stitch us on the pricing of the Cave does anyone know? It's XBLA and PSN otherwise isn't it? So I'm imagining a max of 1200 MS florins so about a tenner...

£15.99 or something on WiiU shop, or am I being pessimistic?

Otherwise though, I'm definitely getting Wonderful 101 and Pikmin 3 but those haven't had dates announced have they?

Nano Assault Neo is an awesome top down shooter on the Wii U store. Most people don't notice it, but it's been one of my fave games on the system so far.

Totally agree. It's the first thing I've played on my Wii U and switching to the pad screen and continuing to play in the lounge while the wife watched Corrie really hammered home the consoles USP. Great game that looks amazing, has me hyped for what's to come. May have to grab Trine2.
