Why are you so defensive about this?

I'm not. If the definition of mini game has now changed then maybe they are mini games.

But as far as I'm aware, mini games are still just that - mini games. Like Rayman Raving Rabbids. They're mini games. These, in Nintendo Land are not.

It's a vague criteria, but if each game is over in just a few minutes, it's a mini game. Many of the games in Nintendo Land last *hours*. Pikmin is longer than, say, Sonic Generations. Is Sonic Generations a mini game?

I can see your point deKay; but Nintento Land as a 'title' is made up of a collection of sub-games (looking for a term here!); so you're going to get people referring to them as mini-games. I'll be honest, I described them as such to someone the other day (despite hearing that they're quite substantial in their own right) without thinking too much about it.

What annoys me is people dismissing it as a mini game collection. That's really, really doing it a disservice.

If people have played it, and don't like it, then fine, but if they've played it they'd know that it's far from a load of mini games.

New definition of "mini game" notwithstanding, of course.

As much as I enjoy NintendoLand, it is a collection of 'mini' games but not all are 'party' games. There's no way you could say it was a collection of games like the Orange Box is for instance.

Confusingly though, some last a lot longer than the others.

Damn you, labels! Damn you to heck!

So you want a smaller screen for a game that works best with a big touch screen?

No I want a controller that doesn't take anything away from enjoying the game. When I have to stop and think about what buttons to press then somethings not right, and in this case for me personally it's the button layout on the Gamepad.

If Metroid Blast was released as a, say, £5.99 download title on the eShop, would you say it was a mini game?

Nintendo Land is a COMPENDIUM OF GAMES!

toy013.JPG

You mean its like a big box games all of which are a bit cheap and nasty to fit a pricepoint?

And every kid wouldve preferred 1 decent game like mousetrap or frustration than cheapo compendium?

If so , I have never heard you so critical of Nintendo ;)

They arent really minigames since they have all the complexity of many fully fledged games. Admittedly the complexity of a NES game often but still .

Would you call the wii sports games minigames? Probably, but would you say it to their face? I would associate minigames more with those in mario party and maybe the micro games in wariowares/ rhythm paradises. Wii sports and this are party games since they they are miles from being "tap tap tap@ games and they are just cut down (mini!) versions of bigger games to be perfect for multiplayer parties/ simulating a funfair/arcade style quick game experience.

Retro mini arcade style fun fair multifun party games.

Anyone know when Sainsburys are going to start selling games other than Mario, ZombiU and Nintendo Land?

Supermarkets are really patchy with stock across the board. The vast majority of stores outside of major cities have no mention of its existence in my experience, which is unusual for a major launch. It's not going to sell unless it's prevalent in the major retailers, so I hope it's just a case of Nintendo waiting to push it later in the year.
