Nintendo Wii U

Hello

Hopefully this is an ok place to ask this question. I read just now on Nintendolife that Nintendo are working on a Virtual Console to be playable on the actual gamepad. I have a Wii, with some VC games, but have not yet transferred anything at all to the Wii U

My question is, does this news mean that at some point soon, all the games I have on my Wii VC like Contra 3, Pilotwings, Mystical Ninja, Actraiser etc will all be playable on the wiiU gamepad?

If so, holy crap!!!!!!

I am so far very meh towards the games on the Wii U , but I have fallen in love with the Gamepad. Youtube (via internet!) is fantastic, the way it lets you watch on TV yet continue searching for more vids on the same tab. Using the gamepad in bed without the tv is a novelty I have yet to tire of.

And now the possibility of the VC games being almost "handheld". I often have not been bothered to play through the wiii VC games I got because of the "hassle" of using the classic controller, but having the option to play them on the pad itself.....in bed.....or whilst the tv is in use.....why the hell isnt this option available now?!?!?

You've more or less nailed exactly why I love the Wii U. I just hope they monopolise on this fact before it's ripped off by everyone else. VC on the Pad would indeed be ace.

You're 'meh' with something you've fallen in love with...?

I'm in two minds to transfer all my Wii stuff over. Not fussed about losing the online aspect as, unless I'm mistaken, there isn't anything that I would particularly miss out on. My Wii is softmodded with the Homebrew Channel though and I wonder if there will be any implications with that...

I've seen some people complaining about the Wii stuff looking like a jaggy hell, but I've just fired up Secret Files Tunguska for the first time and that looked to me - I was using a component cable with my Wii which had all sorts of oddities, black screen sometimes between levels, fluctuating image when starting the machine up - so the fact this looks a bit less fuzzy and stable is more appealing to me, as is having everything under one roof.

Has anyone else with a softmodded Wii transferred it over? Any issues? Any thoughts?

(I'm really chuffed with the WiiU, just absolutely gutted that the connection with the pad just won't stretch to our bedroom and drops out at the top of the stairs - was looking forward to carrying on playing in bed or watching stuff on Youtube. Was optimistic as our ceilings acoustically feel very thin, but it is an old 50s council house so could be the walls are a bit heavy duty.)

So got everything all set up and was ready to rock with some Zombi U when I realised I hadn't fuckin charged the controller yet, doh  So it died on me and had to wait until now to get using it.

Really liking the hardware but unfortunately it looks like my wall must be made of something anti Nintendo since as soon as I leave my room the gamepad loses connections with the console, means I can't do offscreen play in the living room. Bah. Still it's a nice feature for when lying in bed :) Enjoying the Rayman Legends demo but I didn't realise there was so much touchscreen and looking between pad and tv, too late for me since I'm knackered.

I am looking forward to getting stuck into Zombi U tomorrow though as that and any other exclusives were my main reason for getting the machine in the first place. I'll add a lot of you tomorrow and I've stuck my id into the spreadsheet too so feel free to add me :)

You can play it with the charging cable plugged in though?

You're right  Still suffering from this bastard flu so just took the chance to get some more rest :)

Tried some Zombi U and I can tell right away that this is my kind of game. I love the very deliberate movement/combat and already just playing the first 30mins or so it's got bags of atmosphere. Really can't wait to get playing more :) Played the Rayman Legends demo as well and that was an absolute blast, that's very much on my 'purchase later this year' list.

Well that didn't take long:

peripheral manufacturer Nyko has created a solution in the form of the Power Pak - an enhanced battery pack for the GamePad. It offers three times the staying power of the official power cell, but is the same size - which means it fits effortlessly into the existing battery bay. You don't even have to use a special cable to charge it up.

They've done a great job with the pad... it was potentially a weak link having to cram in a lot of stuff, but they've done a great job - very light, and really comfortable.

The only thing that I've heard been criticized is the weak rumble. Even the earlier "OMG it's not a HD screen!" has been absent from complaints post-launch once people have been playing with it.

For FUCK SAKE Ubisoft. Test your shit! Randomly fell through the floor in Zombi U and lost all my stuff, didn't even have a zombie to go back to who I could poach everything off. *rage*

Brilliant game though, very atmospheric.

My pad is broke! I think. The gyrometer appears to have gone weird. You can reset it within minigames on nintendoland but then it suddenly flips as though the controller has turned one way. The plaza section too has a flipped camera by all of 90 degrees! It was never quite perfect but just today its really wonkey. Obama!!

I think I've played the Rayman Legends demo about 10 times over now.

I can't wait for the full game - I hope there's plenty levels similar to Castle Rock in it.

There are deffo more. I assume there might be one in each world type thing.

I can't stress enough how much I'm enjoying Arkham City. I know this game got a lot of love but for some reason I had it down as a horrible hardcore beat 'em up whereas turns out it's just a properly great adventure game. Fully playable on the gamepad but the second screen additions are quite fun. I suppose most here have played it but if you haven't it's pretty essential.

I think it was £2.79 in the Steam sale last week.
