DEKAY STOP RECOMMENDING LITTLE INFERNO

IT'S FUCKING SHIT

If you think it's shit you're doing it wrong. It's shit in the same way those boards with pins in that you push your face or hand or cock into to make a sort of embossed image are shit. It's a toy, not a game. Play it expecting gameplay and you're going to find it shit. Play it as a yay burn things simulator, then it's ace.

Customers who buy pre-owned Wii U systems are able to download certain games for free, according to new reports.

CVG has contacted Nintendo for comment.

A NeoGAF user by the name 'DSN2K', who claims to be the new owner of a pre-owned Wii U system, said said: "Whoever owned the console before me purchased multiple games, meaning all the games he purchased are available to re-download for free....This is with a new account I set up as well. Games are clearly linked to console itself.

"Advice to those buying a second hand Wii U... check all the games on the Store... you might be in for some 'free' games!"

Last year Nintendo revealed that Wii U's online service will be serviced through the new Nintendo Network web service.

"A Nintendo Network Account can only be used on the console where it was created," Nintendo added.

"In the future, you will be able to use your Nintendo Network Account with future Nintendo consoles and other devices, such as PCs."

Wii U supports up to 12 individual Nintendo Network IDs per console, which enables each member of the family to have his or her own unique identity on the system. Products purchased by one user can be played by other account holders on the same system.

Not sure what this means for the original owner of the system, as in will they be able to redownload their games if they were to repurchase a Wii U? Nintendo need to implement a proper account based system.

This isn't new news. We have known all along that games are tied to the system and not directly to the account.

If you buy a new one you can transfer your games over. It works the same wag as 3DS. They have an account system in place and the games are registered to the account but primarily they are still tied to the console.

What is interesting there is that are they saying if you format a consoles memory and presumably unlink a network ID that the machine can still download the games?

What about if you have done a transfer to a new system first. I am guessing not in that case.

I would definitely prefer them to do a psn style account model though. However I bet that on the whole you get more sales on a system locked system than an account locked one. Because of their business model that's what Nintendo are all about.

Reading through this thread has me very tempted... and with a Gamestop just outside work I was almost ready to fork out for one of these at lunch time today.

One question I was hoping someone could answer for me ... I have a few Wii games lying around that I never got a chance to play (Mario Galaxy 2 being the most notable) if these can be played on the Wii U's gamepad while someone else watches tv that would be a big bonus for me... So does anyone know? Can I play Wii games on the Wii U controller's screen or do I still need to use a Nunchuck and Wiimote for playing Wii games on the Wii U?

Tv only unless nintendo change things in the future.

How the hell do I find my Download management icon? It's missing off the bottom row and doesn't appear to be anywhere. Just downloaded a game and I can't install it because the bloody button has disappeared.

I've never seen it on the bottom row. Press Home, it's the sixth icon.

i really am enjoying the wii u. the games are much better than I expected and the console really works for me.

but what i don't love is how slow the interface is.

ten seconds to get into a setting menu. Another ten to get back out. i mean really? that might have been ok in 1994, but not in 2013.

i am used to iPad/iphone/ssd levels of speed. this console sucks in those stakes.

is their any hope of this getting better? It has a flash drive so what is the bottleneck slowing it to a crawl?

why anyone is paying the scalping prices on downloadable games on the stores is beyond me.

Even on the Wii (ie not a portable system) its really good to not have to put a disk in the tray if you want to play it in some cases. Mario and Nintendoland are good examples of this. Not that I've bought any full retail games yet online. Just smaller ones.

Have considered it and probably will do in the future though.

Its whatever the OS is doing. Its nothibg to do with hardware bottlenecks. Which means it should be fixable. Its not clear yet if they will though.

I agree its a poor show but its generally not bothered me too much.

I'm under the impression Nintendo are working on it.

The whole OS was very much last minute thrown together, as we can see by the huge day one update.

It's worth remembering that these days that ram needs to be used for a lot of things, even if it's OS dedicated. Yes it should be slicker, but it doesn't necessarily translate to faster performance simply because there is more ram. It's still got to be optimised code as the ram may still be doing other things.

As an example Sony reduced the ram footprint of the PS3 OS by 70mb via firmware updates, and still added things to it.

I never really notice these things, but the interface is incredibly slow and almost like stepping back in time. How can it take so long to load a simple menu? Almost as long as a game? It puts me off opening things because its so clunky.

I find it really annoying. I hope they can fix it, because the system is going to date really quickly if they don't.

Echh.

So. Is it worth my while transferring my Wii data to the Wii U? I have tonnes of virtual console games and such. Here is my pro's and con's list

Pros:

Handy to have everything on one console

Means I can trade in my Wii

Would be good to get everything off the Wii, since it's about 5 years old now and might kick the bucket.

Cons:

Tedious... a lot of my VC channels are on an SD card, so would this mean several transfers?

Worried that some stuff won't work, such as Mario Bros. Lost Levels, which was only available briefly

Trading in Wii won't generate a lot of cash, plus would mean the loss of one of my Wiimotes

What do I DOOOOO, mukkers?

Since I probably wouldnt use the old wii anyway, post-transfer, I'd be happy with £30. It'd be more or less a free Wii-U game token. I think i'm mostly just bothered about some games not working...

Once i've transferred my profile to the Wii U, will the channels I ran of my SD work in the Wii U? At the moment it says they can't be used on the Wii U, presumably because the machine isn't tied to me yet, on the Wii emulator at least.
