Anybody get their Wii U from Zavvi yet ? It says mines due to be delivered today but yet the tracking says 'Shipping details received, awaiting receipt of the parcel' Of course being the new year and people still on/just coming back from holidays I'm not really surprised or even expecting it but just curious.

Let's not write it off just yet!

What does Pik 2 do so much better (or not, there's a couple of split opinions here over which is the better game) than it's predecessor?

(on a purely superficial level, I think Pikmin 3 looks bloody lovely, loving those rock Pikmin.)

They removed the clock - which, to me, gutted it of any real challenge and, ultimately, point. The first game had you planning the day ahead and trying to organise your Pikmin to get the most out of them within the time given. The removal of any real urgency just made it a bit, well, dull. Actually, it's challenges were different -just not as much fun, really.

Ah ok, so how does the time limit in Pikmin work then? In Pikmin 2 you're limited by your day cycle, except for when you're underground, as mentioned.

I have to say I'm enjoying the pace (or lack of) in 2 however I can see how a time limit would force you to change your focus.

I'm loving the classic Nintendo touch of getting new items/abilities that you can take back into earlier levels. (e.g. Taking the white Pik's back to retrieve treasure that you may have found via the treasure detector).

I recall my (then) eight year old nephew completing the first one with no problems. It's not a hardcore roguelike or anything.

It's Nintendo - the tempo is focused, not sadistic. Majora's Mask had a time limit - you'd have to be pretty cack-handed not to complete it, mind.

Intriguing, wonder how they'll resolve it. The article kinda makes out like Miyamoto has done a bit of a Brian Clough with the development team with regards the Pikmin 1 model. (Basically telling them that he's right and that's that!)

Agreed with SpainKiller

I stopped playing Pikmin 1 due to 30 day limit cos I was constantly rushing/not enjoying game as I was worried I was playing it wrong and would find out on day 15 or whatever. I even recall playing level 2 and thinking "oh shit did I take too long over that, should I replay it to do it faster". It wasnt long before I gave up.

Overall time limits for whole game is utterly wrong headed.

Focused targets and limits make for good gameplay and difficult can ramp etc. Failing you with a game over after say 6 hrs and then telling you its because 1 or more of levels in last 6 hrs was the cause is rubbish.

Pikmin 2 for the win :)

Oh, and rumours abound that Fez is coming to the Wii U. I'd prefer a 3DS version myself, but anyway...

Ha, I just got it on 360. I'd love it on the Gamepad, hnnngh.

Nintendo, sort out your online stuff.

Right I've been out in the wilds for three weeks and return to a £40 Game voucher. Any pointers? Have I missed anything? I own Darksiders 2, Sonic Racing and Mario. No Nintendoland for me as I have no friends!

Skylanders continues to tempt me..
