Nintendo Wii U

It'll be a long slow grower rather than an instant massive hit like the Wii. It's hard to really appreciate the system until you've played with it for a few days. After doing that, you want all controllers to have screens in them, you want MiiVerse everywhere and you love 2D Mario games again...

How likely is this to see a price cut before the end of February guys? I want to get one for my Son for his birthday, and I'm tempted to get one from that Zavvi ebay listing but if it's likely to drop towards £200 then I'll hold off. It'll just be boxed up ya'see for 2 months if I do get it now - but don't want to miss this deal if it's a one-off. I guess there's no way of knowing for sure, but it'd be good to know if anyone's heard of any expected cuts.

Started Dalksiders 2 last night. Framerate is pretty bad, the world is too big, controls are a little frustrating and knowing where to go next (even though you have a map) isn't all that clear, but after a 3 hours session I came away wanting to play more.

Wierd

I'm buying it purely for the exclusives and I'm sure many folk here who own multiple consoles/PC are doing the same thing. Nothing wrong with that, with games like Zombii U and Super Mario Bros U and Platinums exclusives next year I'll get my moneys worth out of them alone :)

Don't neg him . He speaks the truth.

It'll be that way surely?

Unless (and it's a big unless) 3rd party games make some innovative, essential use of the controller I'm very confident that I will still be buying triple A titles on other consoles, or on PC, for the foreseeable future, probably even more so once the next generation machines from MS and Sony arrive.

I see this as being, primarily, a console to be used for playing Nintendo games. Like every other Nintendo console that has preceded it.

The offscreen gamepad play is also very appealing for me as well. It'll satisfy those circumstances where I'm sitting in the living room with my dad when he's not feeling the best and I want to finish a game. It's definitely got some features I really like :) Pity you can't use it with Wii games but well very understandable why.

So - let's say a game like Skyrim comes out. It's identical to the 360 version. The pad is a map and inventory. Would you still buy the 360 version? If so... why?

Certainly, I'll be getting 3rd party games on the WiiU from now on.

On the other hand, I'll continue getting it on the system that makes the most sense. It's interesting that you chose Skyrim as an example as thats exactly the sort of game where it's important to not simply buy it on Wii U for the gamepad features given previous examples from that publisher. This goes for any publisher with a tendency to focus only on the version being supported by the platform holders wallet.

Casting spells, especially your shouts, in vr mode and through the mic would be superb. For a while :) .
