Nintendo Wii U

I received Nintendo gift cards for Christmas branded "wii / 3ds / dsi".

Will these work on the wii u eshop? The chap in the store is unsure (game, FFS).

I believe 'eShop' cards will work (though they're not cross-format compatible post redemption) but those bearing the 'Nintendo Points' moniker won't play with Wii U.

Yes they should work. Cards that work on 3ds or have a price value will work. Cards that are Wii or Nintendo points wont work.

On a mission to grab a Wii U tomorrow. Online Game have nintendo land premium with zombie U for £310. Hopefully they'll have this offer in store as I only have wads of cash. Looking forward to setting up through virgin media, I hear its easy peasy. Is it possible to just transfer your downloaded wii games to wii U and not your saves or anything else, as I want to keep all my wii fit data on the downstairs wii.

Yes, just to let everyone know.

They definitely worked. I also redeemed my first activation code for £5 too.

Happy!

Played a bunch of Nintendoland on Xmas Day with the family, absolutely brilliant. :)

There was just one thing though. I've used the WiiU/3DS transfer tool to upload all my Mii's into the WIiU, but they don't seem to appear in other games. My cousin really wanted to use their MIi in the Nintendoland events, but I couldn't figure out how to do it.

Have I just missed this option somewhere, or is it not possible? Seems like a strange omission if not.

I think you have to mark the Miis as favourites in Mii Maker.

I think I'm heading to tesco first tomorrow, then into town if needs.

That did it. Thanks.

Not only can I now select them as players, I have my family members, Tony Blair & Lieutenant Worf busting moves along with me in the Octopus Dancing Game.

What more could you want? ;)

So I'm considering buying a Wii U. Stupidly probably - considering the foot of dust that would have accumulated on my Wii if it weren't for my wife occasionally using it for Zumba - but I want to play Mario and Bayonetta 2 so whatever. Has anyone seen any sign of any decent post-Christmas deals? I suppose it's unlikely a month or so after launch but a competitive bundle including Mario would be good at least, if anywhere has put one together. (It seems odd that Nintendo apparently haven't but cynically I would have to assume that's because it's a near guaranteed additional sale.)
