Nintendo Wii U

Not quite as annoying but you cannot buy the Nintendo points cards from the stars catalogue for the Wii mode on WiiU. Their system only allows points cards to be generated if they are linked to a Club Nintendo account and that option has been removed from the Wii shop on WiiU and it doesn't take into account the Club Nintendo account linked to the system.

Are you sure? I've used points cards (codes) other people have generated from *their* Stars Catalogue.

The account has to be linked to a Club Nintendo account to generate them. If they're still using a Wii it should be fine but using a WiiU in Wii mode doesn't let you link your account so I've got no way of generating a code unless I dig out my old Wii and link it to that.

The watershed thing itself isn't even the worst thing (although it's hilariously bad of course), but it's the hours themselves. I mean seriously, who the fuck is awake between 11pm and 4am bar night shifters, benefit scroungers and students?

Me.

It is hilariously stupid though.

But if it's some German law, why is it then a problem now? Why hasn't it been properly advertised that this would happen? If it's a new law then Nintendo must have known it was happening. And they could have taken precautions. Unless it was planned all along?

Are they stupid? Or incompetent? Or both?

I wonder what would happen if you started downloading them and ran out of time? Would the download get cut off? Let's be honest though, nobody would download them anyway. As has been said, nobody even noticed it was in place until a week later. And people are talking about one or two xbla titles that would fall foul, after 7 years 1 or 2 titles.

Seems the Pegi ratings only became legally enforceable recently. Perhaps that's something to do with it? Perhaps we'll see Sony and MS hammered soon for not having tight enough controls? Is a PIN sufficient? Most kids set their own consoles up one would imagine. Strange though, you could have Slaughterfuck 3 in the drive of the machine and not be able to download Slaughterfuck 4.

It's most likely due to activision being morons.

What's moronic about it? If the shop is effectively only open 4 hours per day and selling the game at way above most retailers it's most likely not worth the effort. Not sure I would bother putting an 18 rated game on the store until it at least operates all day.
