Can someone explain to me about the premium network thing?

I've bought a nintendoland code from a forumite, this doesnt count towards these points, do it?

I've not actually bought anything on the estore yet, nor have I registered the wii, in fact, I've no idea how to do either. If I do, will these points count/credit eshop credit?

For every £1 you spend on the eShop, you get 8 points.

When you get 500 points, you swap them for a £5 eShop voucher.

That's all there is to it.

I doubt using a code for Nintendo Land will add to your points.

It'll have been a decision point at some time... Now I dare say they'll reverse it... But it was a really stupid decision.

It doesn't sound like they plan on changing it anytime soon.

"At Nintendo we always aim to provide a safe gaming experience for fans of all ages and ensure that we comply with applicable legal age restriction requirements across Europe,” a Nintendo spokesperson told Eurogamer.

“Legal age restriction requirements vary across a number of European countries. Since Nintendo of Europe is based in Germany, Nintendo eShop is complying with German youth protection regulation which therefore applies to all our European markets. Under German law, content rated 18+ must be made available only at night.

“Therefore the accessibility of 18+ content in Nintendo eShop is limited to [uSK: 22:00 UTC until 4:00 UTC] [PEGI: 23:00 UTC until 3:00 UTC].”

Pretty backwards but fact of the matter is I'm never buying a full DL title from them for the prices they want if

it's available in retail form. If a small indie title warrants an 18 - I'll DL it after 11. It's a silly thing to have to do, but

look at the whole launch - hardly smacks of having a plan, does it?

Is it true that their eShop has to comply with German law? I mean...their HQ is based there but the clue is in the name - eShop.

This is the question. Eurogamer would do well to ask a lawyer because it's the difference between Nintendo having their hands tied and them simply being lazy.

There were always going to be snags. I think us early adopters are basically beta testers.

Wouldn't that be the same with Xbox Live, PSN et al if that were the case?

Are they based in Germany?

Surely this should be tied into the Parental Controls. Lock access to them with a Pin number or something. It just seems incredibly idiotic, both to the consumer and the publisher to block out content that can be sold in this way.

Setting my WiiU up the other night I certainly set up a PIN. I think to stop the kids buying games. Surely they could incorporate that?

It is crazy but it boils down to whether this is a legal obligation in which case Nintendo have no choice or whether it's a daft interpretation of the law.

Parental controls absolutely cover this already but that doesn't mean it covers Nintendo legally.

Not quite as annoying but you cannot buy the Nintendo points cards from the stars catalogue for the Wii mode on WiiU. Their system only allows points cards to be generated if they are linked to a Club Nintendo account and that option has been removed from the Wii shop on WiiU and it doesn't take into account the Club Nintendo account linked to the system.
