Nintendo Wii U

My gamepad is definitely faulty. Cant even start the F-Zero minigame as holding up the pad only registers for a split second. Rang the Nintendo helpline to see if they could send me a replacement but the girl on the other end reckons that the pad and console are paired together and everything must be replaced. Anyone know if thats true?

Dunno, but I had the same problem. Moved my old Wii away from my new one and now it's fine.

I have found that the pad is excellent. The ONLY thing I don't like about it, which might go against the general grain in here, is that it's too light for my liking. I wanted it to have a bit more of that 'quality weight' you get with apple products.

It makes the 3DS seem really tiny in comparison!

Thing that is disappointing is the lack of analogue triggers. For those that may have played 360 and wii u versions of sonic all stars racing how do they compare in terms of control?

Can't see analogue making any difference for an arcade racer where all you ever want to be doing is going flat out.

You could possibly kill 2 birds with one stone if a company release a battery pack for it. Longer life, better weight. It's a thought.

but the best wave race didn't use analogue triggers...

I do have some criticisms of the pad... the stick seems to have a bit more of a dead zone than I'm used to on a Nintendo pad. I quite licked the octagonal guide as well, and they've removed that. Which is a shame.

The buttons don't seem as easy to access when using the left analogue stick...

I wish the buttons were coloured like they were on the gamecube and all pads before that. It just made sense.

On the up sides...

the d-pad is excellent. Big, bold, responsive and good to use. It's the best way to play NSMBU and works a treat.

The pro controller is also very nice.

I can't actually name any GC games I played where I needed actual analogue triggers.

I suppose there's Burnout 2, but I never played that on the GC.

Another arcade racer though, so not much need for subtlety. R:Racing Evolution was terrible with the GC's excuse for analogue triggers but there's probably only a handful of games that really make good use of decent analogue triggers outside of Forza/GT anyway. Still, they just feel nice to squeeze on DC and 360.

Question: Mass effect 3. Can it be played on the Gamepad only? Or is it a two-screen?

Is there a list of games which can be played exclusively on the gamepad? I'm finding that is the killer feature of this machine.

It can be played on gamepad only AFAIK...

ok let us not talk about the large hole in my bank balance...

Basically Game tempted me by having the temerity to have a ZombiU pack in stock without having to buy a shitty bundle of tat on top... So far build quality and feel of machine and controllers is very positive

£350 to play a Zombie game*... yes yes I am mad thankyou. I might give that NSMB game a go and I dont have a Wii anymore so it'll be nice to have MarioKart back on the big screen :)

To obviate this change of heart I will not be drawing pointless shite in Miiverse and I shall be sighing inwardly at the positive messages and refuse to "yeah" anything. This will hopefully maintain my grumpy outlook in the face of fun happyland Nintendo :)

That is all

In other news, I've manage to download and install Nintendo Land at last. The 'redownload' button on the My Downloads pages appeared for the first time ever when I re-tried the eShop last night. Problem solved, thankfully. :)

Playing the Metroid and Zelda multiplayer modes reminded me what a fucking pain Wiimotes are to use, incidentally. Having to get them calibrated properly, and constantly adjusting during gameplay. Certainly not conductive to the pick up and play ethos of Nintendo Land in general.

Sort of tempted as to whether to buy Tekken for the Mario Kart-style Mushroom Battle mode, incidentally.

Apart from the inital update, the updates are not too bad, especially compared to the PS3. I was playing ZombiU last night and after i finished playing i was asked to install the 2nd update that had downloaded without my knowledge which was nice. Still not as smooth as the 360 when it comes to updates but its a lot better than the PS3 or 3DS.

BTW, whilst i cancelled my Tesco order and bought one in GAME, it seems Tesco are still trying their best to screw up the remaining orders they have. Customers were advised their order would be delivered on the 5th of December after all the problem they faced before. Turns out no one got their order on the 5th and today are now being told its actually dispatching today for delivery sometime before the 11th. Customer Service are still telling customers their order has been sent and still Tesco are not sorting this.

I'd be fuming if i had to book 3 days off, especially as Tesco say they don't expect you to be in to receive your order and thus will not pay for loss of earnings/time wasted. Of course MSE - http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/shopping/delivery-rights - actually say they should pay you if they screw up like this.

Has anyone transferred their Wii that has been modded? I haven't updated the Wii to the latest system menu in a year or two, its probably on 4.1 or 4.2 so is there a way to upgrade it to transfer all the stuff over without breaking it? Also if i backup the internal flash to an SD card through bootmii and afterwards reimport it will it go back to as before the transfer with all my miis, save data etc still on the console?
