Maybe TIE fighters have repulsor fields like landspeeders or snowspeeders and just sort of float above the surface of where they want to 'land'. Makes sense.

They just land on the wings I reckon. If they're strong enough to pull the maneuvers we've seen them pull in atmosphere then they can hold the weight of the cockpit between them. That said, in rebel assault 2 you can clearly see that the Phantom tie has to land on a special pedestal.

Those are astonishing, will have to try and get prints of some. You can see some became direct shots in the film. The Ewok tents made of wood towards the end are how they appear in one of the theme parks in SWG. Also, I didn't realize he'd done concept art for Coruscant.
