EXT. SKYWALKER FARM - DUSK

LUKE lays a hand on his TIME CAPSULE, almost caressing it. He turns to ANAKIN.

LUKE
There is no escape! Don't make me destroy you. Anakin, you do not yet realize your importance. You've only begun to discover your power! Join me, and I will complete your training. With our combined strength, we can end this destructive conflict, and bring order to the galaxy.
ANAKIN
I'll never join you!
LUKE
If only you knew the power of the Light Side. Obi-Wan never told you what happened to your father.
ANAKIN
He told me enough! He told me midichlorians inseminated my mum.
LUKE
No, I am your father.
ANAKIN
No. No! That's not true! That's impossible!
LUKE
Search your feelings; you know it to be true!
ANAKIN
Jesus bonescrack!

Rumour stuff (not new rumours, talking about existing one)

So there's a rumour that Luke's gone over to the Dark Side and turns out to be this Inquisitor dude or something? Or a villain behind the scenes, whatever. I hope not, because it fucks up the end of RotJ really. But if it's true, how's that going to work? He defeats the two evilest dudes ever, and resists massive temptation to give in to the negative stuff, and then a few years later he's just like, fuck it, I'll give the dark side a go, whoahohoa, it's awesome!

And then he goes to Endor and digs up Vader's helmet and like, looks at it for a while.

Basically what the EU did, which makes me doubt the talk that it's the direction they're going in.

But I enjoyed that direction in the books. It was campy and dumb in the way Star Wars is campy and dumb. The prequels were campy, dumb and badly written, so people seem to have conflated it all together. But the Star Wars universe allows for nonsense like the spoiler if it's actually well written like the original movies.

They're all pulpy and in line with the original inspiration (Flash Gordon/Buck Rogers, etc), but the word awakens just sticks out. The Force Stirs, The Force Returns all sound shit and pulpy and fit the bill, but that third syllable just sounds odd, in a cheap/naff way, to me for some reason.

Can't put my finger on it.

Mmmmmm sounds a bit crap that title. When exactly did the force go to sleep? It was well and truly in effect at the end of ROTJ.

It's almost as if stuff might have happened in the 30 years since.

I bet when they announced the title they crowded round twitter saying "ok, let's see why the Internet says it's shit" (let's face it, they were never going to say it was good, no matter what it was called). And now they're rolling around laughing saying "no way - it's the fact that one of the words has three syllables!".

The title has the same number of syllables as ESB. if anything it's the least pulpy of the titles so far.

That's it, actually. It doesn't sound as pulpy and it sticks out. The syllable thing was to do with the word awakens - it's doesn't slide off the tongue and it's the first time a Star Wars film has had a three syllable word in the title. You're right though, it doesn't sound as pulpy.

Seems they're going back to the original format of not having the Episode number as part of the title, which makes me wonder if the posters will be in the OT style.
