Pretty Toney by Ghostface is a steal at €10, as is the reissue of These Days by Bon Jovi.

Some of the Jovi albums sold out before I could get them and I'm fucking gutted.

It's my life.

Actually a bit gutted to miss The Circle which has now sold out.

Lets be honest, it isn't a classic but was a late return to form and I've lots of memories running to it.

Cheers for the heads up, just ordered:

Underworld - Rez/Cowgirl 12" (£3)

Public Enemy Live (£8)

Johnny Cash - American V (£8)

They had the deluxe boxset of the PE album for £20 but I never get round to watching DVDs that come with albums.

One or two tempting ones there. Not enough to make me want to pull the trigger. £8 is cheap for an LP but after £4 postage it's isn't so tempting.

Do what I did, buy three records. £1.32 per disc postage isn't bad!

How many LPs did I just buy?

I need to stop browsing this subforum late at night!

EDIT-  Picture discs are rubbish to play I know this and coloured vinyl is mostly fine apparently. How does "silver coloured" vinyl play? same as any other colour or more like picture disc? I only ask as Chemical Brothers have special ediiton of Dig your own hole coming out and it is one of my fave albums of theirs. And I might spring for the special edfition in july instead of the normal one.

I got a totally mint 7" delivered today. First thing I've bought second hand that is actually perfect. However, it still has the 99p Virgin sticker on it and I'm really tempted to remove it. I should just leave it right? A 20 year old sticker isn't going to just peel off without trace is it?

Although they won't be as cheap as 8 quid check with yer local indie as a lot of the titles on that sale are now available to them...Resident (and I think Sister Ray) should have them cheaper than any of their previous prices...hopefully around £12/ £13 maybe...

I'm mainly looking for The Circle. If you see it cheap, fire me a link please!

No way will that sticker come off, without leaving a mess.

These have just turned up - The Underworld Rez 12" is the yellow vinyl edition which according to discogs is limited to 1000 and has never sold for less than 20 quid (there's one for sale at 17.99 plus shipping at the moment though).

I didn't buy it to sell it, not bad for three quid though!

I ordered The Cure's Entreat and Pornography, just waiting for shipping now. Could have ordered loads more.

General question: like a lot of others, I'm coming back to vinyl after going towards CDs in the 90s and then digital. Wanted to get back to the physical side of music ownership a bit more, especially since with Spotify I'm buying very little digitally now. My question though is - is quality control of new record pressings just really shit these days? About 50% of the new records I've bought recently have problems - Massive Attack's Mezzanine had a giant scratch across track one, plus loads of skips later. The No Man's Sky OST was FUCKED on all 4 sides, and my copy of Metallica's Hardwired has a few skips too although I'm letting that off a bit as it was a RSD special. I don't remember records bought new in the late 80s, early 90s being this bad, have I just been unlucky?

@lankysanchez No, you are not imagining things. Demand has far out-stripped the capabilities of the remaining pressing plants, especially during key times like RSD and Christmas. I have stopped buying vinyl again and am currently trying to slim my collection down, but when I was buying I avoided RSD due to too many fucked pressings straight out of the cellophane.

@Mentazm What I thought. I was kind of expecting it for RSD stuff, but it's disappointing when it's standard releases by relatively big artists. On the upside the Amon Tobin and FSOL stuff I've bought has all been perfect so far.

It was worse a year or so back, it has got better in the last 12 months I have found. I've returned one so far this year due to scratches.

Rewind back to 2015 and I think I returned stuff in double figures, mostly due to warping

I have this magazine with the flexi disc. If anyone would like it, drop me a PM and I'll send it otherwise it's going in recycling.

My Sound of Vinyl order arrived yesterday. To continue my usual luck with buying vinyl, the copy of Entreat Plus skips and jumps all over the place on both sides of disc one. I haven't had the heart to try disc 2. So that's going back. The copy of Pornography plays perfectly though which is nice. My luck of 50/50 fine/shagged continues.

50/50 is a fucked ratio even by my standards. Judging from your previous posts, you mention a lot of skipping and jumping. Are you confident your deck is set up correctly? Skipping is usually caused by a few factors, mainly the incorrect weight applied to the cartridge, and/or incorrect setting of the tracking force/antiskate mechanism.

Anyway, if you know all this already, I'm not teaching you how to suck eggs. But I have rarely come across any new presses that skip and jump a lot. Pops maybe, warps a lot, and scratches a couple here and now, but not skips and jumps.

Picked up a few of the sonic youth ones at the end of the month when I got paid thinking that they won't come through as it's late in the day and none are showing as in stock. All came through this week. Bargain tactic for double LP albums. If I was richer I'd have picked up a few Cure ones too.

edit: nope gave in and ordered Kiss me, kiss me, kiss me, 17 seconds and pornography. I guess that's baked potatoes every day for dinner this week then.

i bought 4 cure lps (a whim never bought the Cure before) in that sale and all were perfect.

New LPS are a bit of a lottery I guess (no problems here) but at least you can send them back :)

The 2nd hand market for decent old records is a right crapshoot at times :D
