Line of Duty (BBC)

Spoiler

Davidson is going to be Tommy Hunter's daughter isn't she? That was why she threw the glass at the picture of her mum in the first episode. And it'll be H for Hunter as that's her real surname. Thereby squaring the circle and sidestepping the stupid morse code thing from the end of last series. Also the voice on the podcast snippet was definitely the dodgy lawyer from series 4.

THE LETTER OF THE LAW, THE LETTER :omg:

Good ep, question is Kate knows she’s being played by Davidson, but how much? Feel like there’s a big swerve coming to keep the pace over four more episodes.

I'm enjoying this series a lot more than the previous one. Has Mercurio confirmed that this is the final season, or is that not known yet?

My theory is that

Spoiler

Kelly MacDonald is somehow being coerced to cooperate with the OCG but wants out. She can't just confess to AC-12, though, otherwise she'll get killed, so she's having to both urge them to 'Investigate' and discover the truth (which she's told them to do a couple of times now) while also appearing to the OCG as if she's trying to cover things up and remain loyal to them, which is why she's so stressed out.

One thing I don't get/can't remember: what's Ted's involvement with Stephen Graham's wife? She went and met him at the AC-12 HQ in an earlier episode and now she's the one ringing him up to dob in Steve re. the drugs.

Not yet renewed for a seventh season. There is seven episodes this time around rather than the usual six though.

It’d be surprising if this is the last run, but also hope there’s not too many more.

RE your spoiler question.

Spoiler

Ted gave Corbett's widow the 50k in cash he had. This is the envelope that Steve found.

Where did he get that from again? I watched a catch up of all the seasons so far but it wasn't very comprehensive...

He got £100k from that ex-copper who was trying to get him involved in a real estate deal.

But wasn’t that just an attempt to frame Hastings that was disclosed, he never kept that cash?

Spoiler

He kept half of it. AC-3 only found £50000 when searching his hotel room, and assumed that was all of it.

Enjoyed this week's episode, it's moving on a bit now. Though I did find the interview of Terry slightly upsetting.

The portrayal of Steve and his addiction/abuse of otc and prescription painkillers is pretty accurate and mirrors my own struggles almost exactly. Even getting shitfaced as an alternative

Much laughter and joy at the reservoir scene.

Spoiler

I always find the "oh no they aren't dead" murder type situation very very funny. What a fucking stupid plan incidentally, so much could have gone wrong.

Did anyone else find the mention of the real life cases of Saville and Daniel Morgan a bit jarring?

Again this week they mentioned Cliff Richard and the BBC incident, but without saying his name.

Poor old Steve, can’t even get a chubby on.

Martin Compston is going to seriously get the piss taken out of him when he goes back into school.

Looks like this is true.

I thought it was a pretty good episode again, although this particular OCG

Spoiler

must be the most organised OCG in the world to stop the car in the way they did. The thing is, if this was an American programme then I wouldn't question it, but there's something about assault rifles and snipers on the streets of fictional Birmingham that I just find faintly ridiculous.

Spoiler

It’s going to be the Chief Constable guy as the big baddie isn’t it? That’s why they’ve dragged him up again and brought up the initial shooting again. That’ll be the race element to what the reporter was looking into. Hence all the pointers back to the first series. They’ll all be golf members at the same club or something stupid as Buckells had clubs in his boot.

Is the

Spoiler

Chief Constable the Indian guy in the suit who was there before Ted was told he was being let go? I thought that was the Home Secretary or something.

They really need to make the 'Previously on Line of Duty' thing more comprehensive if they're going to be harking back to earlier seasons like this. I had no idea why the bloke from series 2 of The Office was there, or why that was a big deal. Completely forgot who he was and why he was important.

Since Kate's run through the streets with an assault rifle, everything else has been pretty plausible in comparison.

Spoiler

He’s the Police and Crime Commissioner. I think he’s a red herring as he’s so obviously dodgy and Jo or whatever worked for him last season. I mean, how does he stay in his job after his advisor is outed as being a massive wrong un? Him being behind it would just seem a bit basic, he’s all but twiddling his moustache while he ties someone to a railway track at this point.

Yeah, that was about as silly as this programme's ever got. It's much better when they keep it more low-key. 40 minute interrogations and Ted saying 'Bent coppers' at least three times per episode. That's what I watch Line of Duty for!

Great ep tonight

Spoiler

The whole van shootout was well done, loved action Steve headshotting the window gunman.

Let's hope Ryan gets his comeuppance, proper smug faced git throughout.

I get they are compulsive but I would argue with the quality angle. They are to TV what Dan Brown is to literature (I might be exaggerating a tad).

My missus likes this show and I’ve never watched it before until this one, it’s absolute garbage with dreadful acting throughout - am I missing something?

How many more episodes of this series are left?

It really doesn't feel like they're getting close to a conclusion and I thought that they haven't yet commissioned another series so this might be the last...

I've loved this series so far and last night's episode was great but I hate what they've done with Kate.

Her suddenly going to bat to defend her boss this episode was really out of character I thought.

No. I think it gets a pass because it's on BBC. It's VERY SERIOUS.
