The worst rock bands ever

After talking about Aerosmith in another thread thread it got me thinking who are the worst rock bands ever? Thats from any rock based genre so anything under the banner of 'rock' can be included (punk, pop rock, glam, indie etc). I think its time to name and shame those who offend our ear drums and maybe we can get a list and a poll going.

After much inner debate my choice has to be; Status fuckin' Quo! Loved by parents everywhere and unimaginative disco DJ's.

Words cannot explain how awful these are, it hurts my brain trying to figure out how they became so popular. They play the same guitar base in every damn song! They sound like some chancers who picked up a guitar to impress the chicks, got lucky and have just blagged their way through the past few decades.

Scary thing is that i'm sure there is still much worse out there...

I can't stand punk, so I'll include any modern punk band who still thinks it's 1979 with a sneering billy idol lip and being 39 singing about teen angst. cunts.

Stereophonics.

Ocean Colour Scene and My Life Story rounded out my 90s Triumvirate of Shitness.

I guess this is more 'bands you hate the most' rather than actual 'worst bands ever' though, otherwise it'd probably be a all sixth form 'battle of the bands' type stuff?

Kings of Leon

Coldplay

Snow Patrol

Bon Jovi

Maroon 5

Nickelback

How's that for a start?

That 'rockstar' song of theirs does my head in but you can't escape it, its everywhere and everyone seems to listen to it, i can't escape from it no matter how far i run :(

Both the above posts plus oned fro me, forgot those. 'She's So Lovely' is one of the most annoying songs of all time. I've seen Razorlight live while waiting on another band to come on at a festival. People seemed to be enjoying them. People are idiots.

Razorlight (just noticed their name on that wiki page). I've only ever met girls who like razorlight.

ditto. Same goes for 'Kings of Leon' either too many girls have a taste for dreadful indie bands or they are just more prone to having it emblazoned across their chest than guys.

Only festival crowds, i put it down to them being too fucked through alcohol and drugs to realise what they are listening to. When i worked bar at a festival once i had a guy tell me how excited he is to see and how much he loves Ocean Colour Scene and that they are his favourite band ever, he must be permanently high or something.

Up until that comment I was nodding along in agreement.

I hate bland rock, so anything that decorates the coffee table of some numbnut that thinks they are cool tends to do it. I think people have covered most bases with the Kings of Leon, Coldplay, Snow Patrol type stuff plus their new favourite ever band Mumford & Sons.

I have noticed like other these do tend to be as probeater would term it female favourites.

I dislike Metalica. I've no idea what people see in them. The singing is histrionic drama school quality, and the music chugs along trying to be all macho. And they pose like idiots.

And that thing they did with Lou Reed is possibly the most unintentionally hilarious record ever made.

So them.

I can't accept Quo for Down Down alone. and Pictures of Matchstick Men is good too.
