Cheers Yoshi - I guess I must have missed them in Notifications. They were probably at the far end of the PS4 menu-style row of notifications behind a load of Titanfall achievements.

Speaking of Titanfall, I'm still really enjoying it but the player numbers are super-low; 38 people playing Hardpoint on the North Europe datacentre this morning - it's like Gears 3 all over again :(

I like the way the game shows your actual ping to whichever datacentre you have selected; ALL games should do this.

It's soul-destroying to see such low user numbers considering AW is the inferior game.

Another question about friends a followers if you don't mind: if I change the friends list to display followers, it shows people I know I've added/have added me, because they're in my friends list. Why are they still listed as followers?

Basically because Friends is a slightly misleading label now. It should be something like Followers and People I Follow since both lists are independent of each other.

As long as i don't get Yosh into trouble. Can anyone tell me where the gamertag list is please? It's not in the first post and a quick search didn't help.

Many thanks and sorry if I get Yoshimax fired from his shill job :(

Did you get in the last time? If you have the executable already you might be ok otherwise I very much doubt it.

Yeah got in last time the alpha. It downloaded the executable for the beta too. When I launched that at the time it said it wouldn't start till the 29th.

If you've got that on your HDD I reckon you're good to go - should have the star tab on it to show it has recently updated - try running it? I'm getting a message saying the previous wave has ended and see you on the 29th.

Yes I do. I must prefer basic or something. I think Halo really began to fall apart when they started giving you armour abilities and load-outs. The core combat is what's always made Halo great and everything else they added diluted it.

I dunno, I never play online, every time I try it's a million people who've maxed their "DPS" or whatever and I just get constantly murdered.

But I don't really play FPS either. And yet, I completed Halo in 2002 and then completed Anniversary in 2013. Other than Doom 1, Rise of the Triad and Destiny I'm not 100% sure I've completed any other FPS ever, let alone twice.

Still feel halo gets the 'team' feel right. Throwing a flag over a grav lift and a friend grabbing it the other side - never ever gets old.

Older halo maps have an iconic feel, you know where you are immediately when spawning, and the whole game changes pace depending on what weapons you're holding. Think this is what destiny was lacking after the honeymoon period. Extra realism ultimately looses the 'game' feel that Halo is.

For me though, I think some of the pull is just loving it and being used to it; after spending a few years playing with some great friends. Every game I've played of Titanfall is crazy exciting, but I don't think I've put enough time into it to truly appreciate it all so I default to wanting/yearning Halo.

It's obvious why they (Bungie/343) added so much more and changed it though, shooters need change and also need to keep pace with what new gamers expect.

In the end, I'd be happy to play any shooter as long as the full crew are playing, truly think that's where the fun/stories really are.

The biggest issue I'm having with MCC is to do with connection problems. This past week I've really noticed players jumping around the maps, I know that they talked up dedicated servers and I've had some good games but it's definitely not running on dedicated servers all the time. Last night it felt predominantly like it was running on a peer to peer system and the host was a long way away.

Gameplay wise when the connections are good, Halo 2 is still great, I'd like to see the back of map/gametype voting though.

I'm pretty impressed with the Bone so far. After reading the negative stuff about the UI I decided to take the time to watch a couple of those tutorial videos Smitty missed, which definitely helped. I can see why people find it confusing - it doesn't list the stuff you'd expect: Games, TV, Video, Settings etc, instead having a bunch of tiles that list a random assortment of games, apps, functions, adverts and sub-categories. It didn't take me long to get the hang of it, though, and from there getting set up has been painless. Apart from a minor hitch, it sees my NAS and seems to stream everything no questions. The apps downloaded fine and all seem to work well so far. Thankfully the YouTube app still works in tandem with the iOS app, which I found to be a godsend on PS3.

Apart from the glaring omission of not being able to turn the console on, Smartglass is excellent and much better than the PS4 equivalent. In fact, it really helped with set up as text entry is very slick when using your phone as a controller. It could do with a QR reader though.

So far it's exceeded my expectations as a media player. I'm seriously considering Kinect now for it's extra interface options and IR blaster.

I've got Forza Horizon 2 and AC:Unity. Install and load times are loooong but apart from that I've no issues. Being able to drop out to the dash and do some other stuff, then drop back in, is very cool. The pad is decent, though I'm not keen on the bumpers. I much prefer the d-pad placement to the DS4, and everything else seems fine, but I find it hard to keep the bumpers pressed in. AC requires you to hold LB to aim, but I find that takes quite a bit of effort. Annoying, as the 360 pad was perfect in this regard.

Finally, feels good to be back on Xbox Live with all the familiar faces.

A Kinect might be a good idea for you as it has both a qr reader function and will turn your console on and off (and everything else).

My point is Smartglass could easily do both those things. No need for a £60 peripheral.
