Xbox One Console Thread

Which Halo runs at a poor frame rate? I haven't played much of the others yet, but Halo 2 is silky smooth.

I thought they were all supposed to be 1080p 60fps, except one which I can't remember right now.

You don't have to change account, just change region in settings and reboot the console.

I set up a second account anyway as Sunset Overdrive only allows one save per account it seems. Ok, will check the region settings on the console for getting US content. Cheers

Weird. I'm on Delta myself and I haven't noticed it being choppy.

Its constantly going to 50fps you can feel it, loads of little jerks and niggles. Its a bad game too, worse than I remembered. Hitch potch level design and poorly thought out encounters. Killing the prophet by slapping him in the head is a real anticlimax, they really upped their game for halo 3 presentation wise

Have to say, now it is all running and everything seems to be installed. I am very impressed. I picked up EA Access too as I thought at £3.99 I could try out Madden and UFC and I am glad I did, because UFC seems excellent this far. Still pissed that Sony didn't allow this service on PSN, but there you go.

Created a secondary account for me (bradigorDET) so that I can actually play some of the games without only being able to do them part of the way through. So please feel free to add me.

Grabbed Killer Instinct to see what that is like and the GwG freebies.

well after a couple of days with it, i quite like the bone. controlling it via my voice definitely lifts the user experience.

but like others have said i find the UI a complete mess. i prefer the PS4 as a pure games machine, but the xbox one is a great all around device to have in the lounge to watch and play stuff.

Whichever SDF member is running around negging my posts in various threads I just want you to know I love you and you make me smile. I assume you've got so much time on your hands because PSN is still down and you've got to do something to keep you busy.

When PSN is back up I'll come play games with you.

The UI is a mess, and while I appreciate the posts that have outlined how everyone goes through an initial disconnect with a new UI before coming to love it, the One's interface is a stinker. That said, the actual functionality of the console is great - the suspend thing is revolutionary. It doesn't always work for me (Disney Infinity is a pig) but when it does it's magical. I also think Snap has a lot of potential. Again, it doesn't quite work well enough, but over the lifetime of the console I can imagine the Microsoft Engineers building some funky stuff into the machine. I bet the first revision does away with the HDMI In, which would be a real shame as there's a heap of potential in the box to do all sorts of clever stuff.

What has surprised me is how I've gone from a PS4/WiiU blend to basically getting ready to sell the WiiU and stick to One and PS4. Which seems crazy as they're essentially the same thing, but the exclusives on each are enough, and with the Vita as my third platform I can't really see myself using the WiiU much any more.

I don't really get the recent criticisms of the UI. At launch it definitely needed some work, but I think it's fine now. All I've read (in this thread from new users) recently is stuff how poor it is without actual points to back that view up.

I remember the later days of the 360 dashboard being awful to use and the One at launch needed serious work with regards to game invites and the party system. But since then I can't really think of anything that really annoys me.

It's definitely like the Xbox one is the successor to the PS3 and the PS4 is like the successor to the 360.

I don't get why game installs are so slow on the Xbox One, or why games are so slow to load, I can actually load cod advanced warfare on Xbox one and then switch the ps4 on and load advanced warfare and join a game before the Xbox one version lets me select campaign or multiplayer in the menu, and this is on 2 different Xbox one consoles so can't be a console issue.

The front pages are weird, pinning things, the boxes, anything that looks like windows 8 immediately has me on my guard against it.

Windows 8 feel made me a bit uneasy too, but I think the boxes are the simplest way of showing the info/content with good context.

Saying that, I've ended up pinning nearly all my games so I can get to them straight away. Keep telling myself I'll removed the pin once a game is complete, but my digital pile of shame is getting out of hand.

Not had my PS4 on for ages, but the long horizontal list would be madness if I had the 25+ games I have pinned from the xbox on that UI. The large boxes on XO also give enough pull to content; It's really easy to spot things on a single view.

Disregarding the subjectivity around the visual style, I'm certain the interface is more than usable because my girlfriend and daughters can navigate it all with both the joypad and media remote; across games, tv, Netflix etc. Rarely asked for help - which happens with the Apple TV, iMac and Wii U.

Bigger issues for me from an experience PoV are really my controller disconnecting if my knee is in front of it, and the sound issues sometimes when going from dash back to game.

Also think that snapping apps is a bit slow/laggy at times, especially when compared to the quick menu on 360.

A constant joke when playing in a party online is my inability to double click the home button - no matter how fast or slow I click, it takes me home instead of showing the new quick menu around 99.5% of the time. Think it's the button itself though.

Does anyone know what percentage of One owners have a Kinect? Reason I ask is I am wondering if I sell mine as I never use it, but are MS working on something good for it around the corner, or have they abandoned it?

Harmonix's latest game bombed. If it's over for them, it's over for everyone.

It's such a shame the kinect has been rejected by so many people. I hope a future revision of the xbox one incorporates the audio bits into the console so you can still do xbox unsnap, xbox record that etc. It differentiates the console so much and makes it a joy to use.

Using kinect for those features is pretty quick when it responds first time. Which I'd guess is about 80-85% of the time.

Xbox record that works well as does snapping & switching. Kinect keeps surprising me with the number of voice commands it responds to within different apps. I seem to discover new ones quite regularly. It's great in FH2 for staying immersed in the game world and I can only hope that it gets used more in a similar subtle way to enhance gameplay in the years to come.
