Xbox One Console Thread

Only at a console launch would Zoo Tycoon be considered a viable full-price purchase. No, I haven't played it.

It looks awesome, man! It's currently the only game I wish I could have for my PS4.

I did play one of the previous Zoo Tycoon games so much that my PC could no longer handle the save though :(

Sorry to be a doubting Thomas, but can anyone point me towards the link that states Game are doing XB1 games on launch night for £40.00.

I've not seen anything official on the subject either. Might have to make an enquiry. I can already tell it'll be a case of me asking and the member of staff looking blankly at me and then giving an answer that only confirms they know nothing about the launch night plans.

They'll then ask which games I was interested in and try to add them to my preorder at full price and I'll have to explain that I appreciate them trying to help but I'd rather wait and see what the prices will be.

If you Google this is the sort of thing you'll get though:http://m.oxm.co.uk/65868/xbox-one-game-pre-order-console-bundles-revealed-rumour/

If these pop up in Argos and I can reserve one on Friday then I'll join the Xbone club. If not it'll be PS4 only for me for the foreseeable.

Argos will definitely have consoles for launch, we had the memo about it yesterday! I think you should be able to reserve online the night before, or from mid-night onwards. The only reason I can think you wouldn't be able to is if they centrally block reservations being made, but I don't see why they would!

I've got a mate after one for launch - when you say the night before what sort of time are we talking? Would it be better to visit a store and preorder directly?

Also, are the achievements for the games not out in the wild yet? Normally when big releases are due the achivements are out a week or two ahead of time.

This is blocked at my work so I can't see but apparently what they've done with achievements this time (comparison etc) is very impressive :

Here's the text copy'n'pasted for you. Pics show that each achievement has a fairly large image representing it (like a screenshot of the game). I like the sound of individual achievement progress being recorded for you on the dashboard, no more guessing about how far you are towards an achievement.

New images of the Xbox One achievement interface have been revealed, showing off the new presentation style and functionality for the next-generation console.

Microsoft partner studio manager Mike Ybarra revealed a pair of images on Twitter this weekend. The first image (above) shows that achievements will be displayed in a tile-based layout and are accompanied by visual depictions of the task completed.

Scrolling over an achievement and pressing "A" will launch the achievement tile into full-screen (as shown in a second image released by Ybarra). This includes an image supporting the context of the achievement, as well as its title, description, and value. The page will also show progress toward specific achievements.

The Xbox One launches on Friday, November 22, for $500. GameSpot's video coverage of the next-generation console commences at 9 a.m. EDT with a live stream showcasing launch-day games and the system's functionality.

Nice one, thanks for the update. Argos or bust it is then.
