Xbox One Console Thread

Here's the text before it went poof.

Regarding "ALWAYS ON". Here's the official word from Microsoft:

Q: Does Xbox One require an “always on” Internet connection?

A: No, it does not have to be always connected, but Xbox One does require a connection to the Internet. We’re designing Xbox One to be your all-in-one entertainment system that is connected to the cloud and always ready. We are also designing it so you can play games and watch Blu-ray movies and live TV if you lose your connection.

All its doing is putting a layer over your sky or virign. You still need all the same boxes but now youll need another box a kincet and a gold sub to make it work. They are putting more barriers infront of you watching tv.

It's how they treated GFWL on the PC, rather than a useful function to provide it's being a pain in the arse.

Courtesy of Wired.

Whut?

I imagine it means that you can use the machine whilst your 'net is down, but to 'register' a new game you have to be connected before it installs to check/update ownership rights.

Moneyhatting EA to leave bits out of the PS4 version of FIFA? Sounds pretty pathetic.

Maybe if you weep into Sony pyjamas, then yes, you'd damn their cruel and underhand tactics of paying for things (those bastards). But I notice even you agree its hardly a whimper.

So this amazing new 2nd OS is basically...an HDMI switcher to feed my sky into, where i shout XBOX WATCH FOOTBALL instead of using the AV button on my remote. Because that's more efficient that hitting one button. The arrogance of the generational winner costing them the next gen will never ever be broken. Ever. And theyve also not divulged the specs either because they know the PS4 kills them.

400 quid saved. Next gen = PS4 alongside Xbox 360.

A very good analogy. GFWL somehow managed to bring the biggest drawbacks of console gaming and infuse it with the worst aspects of PC gaming. I once bought DLC on steam for a GFWL game. Instead of downloading in Steam, all I got was a CD key from Steam, for GFWL. Then I had to load the game via Steam. Wait for GFWL to load, since if you do so much as dare to play the game before GFWL has loaded it can fuck up your saves. Wait for GFWL to find my account. Wait for GFWL to decide my account was corrupt and re-download it, which took several minutes. Then find where to redeem the DLC key. Redeem it, and voila! Now I had to open yet another client for downloading DLC with, and keep both of those things open as well as the game and Steam while it downloaded (slowly). :D

Absolute horseshit.

LOL. True, it's only pathetic, not a whimper. Happy now?
