"Hey cortana... Lag lag lag".

I've given it ten minutes. It's now getting turned off again - why they can't short-circuit or support both sets of commands for people with Kinect I don't know...

Revival already explained how to use either set about five posts above yours. There's also a what's new video on the dash explaining it.

Yes...

i watched the video, and I'd read Revival's post. I also note that if Kinect is connected it defaults to not changing.

that still doesn't justify making it laggy for common commands (four syllables to start listening for one thing...)

or support both "Xbox" and "hey cortana" at the same time...

Totally agree, for stuff like record that or go to app it should not be searching the Internet before doing it, those should just be basic commands it handles internally like before. It's a shame you have to have an either or approach rather than one that blends the two.

Cortana is excellent for me. It picked up the game I wanted to open with the smoothie blender going and the kids shouting. I've used it on Win 10 though so perhaps it's adjusted to my voice.

This is so different to local kinect voice commands it's silly.

I keep changing my mind over buying an elite pad. It's mainly due to not knowing what the benefits are on games that aren't FPSs I think. I play Destiny (or will again when the next DLC comes out) and have been getting back into Halo and I've heard it will be noticeable for those but no idea on other genres.

What are the thoughts of owners on here in general? Any regrets?

I love mine. I have anything that requires clicking the sticks or taking my thumb off the right stick regularly I map to the paddles.

Plus there's the extra long sticks which help on shooters.

Love it. Have three or four other pads in the house (another Xbox, a rift controller, two normal?), and will get up and move it about if I want to play a game.

two paddles set up - one on left click and one on right click; use them as gear changing in racing games, and then for shooters.

Will set the hair triggers up for non-racing games.

Dont tend to change the sticks around much though.

I got mine with the console so I can't really comment on the normal one, but the posh one is bloody good. I don't know if it makes any real difference except the hair triggers, perhaps, but it's still worth it, it's just really nice quality and feels like a proper grown up pad. It's basically the pad equivalent of a lovely mechanical keyboard.

I got it fairly cheap from Amazon Warehouse (and with money off) so keep an eye out there. The box was a bit fucked but the pad was perfect.

It's awesome. Best pad I've used.

I could take it or leave it. I like the pad but I don't really use the paddles. The way I hold my pad means I feel like I can't hold it properly without hitting them accidently. I've knocked them off a fair few times, too.

The other problem is it takes a bit of time to learn to use them and in the meantime you get worse at whatever you're playing, which caused me a bit of frustration and I gave up.

The hair triggers are great, though.

The Elite is easily the best controller I've ever used, the weight, grip, button configuration and hair triggers make it for me.

Some button maps I've got set up -

Halo 5 - I put jump and boost onto the left paddles and crouch on right-upper paddle. I leave right-lower blank as I was accidentally hitting it on Halo. Basically using the paddles means you can keep your right thumb on the right stick at all times.

Rocket League - We discussed this last night and I tried out view switch on one of the paddles which worked well. I'll experiment with jump and boost although I don't feel like I really need the paddles for them.

GTAV - I put Left Dpad on a paddle so that I can switch radio station and still steer the car at the same time. I also have sprint and jump on paddles so that I can turn the camera while sprinting.

Read Dead Redemption - Similar to above with sprinting and jumping.

Gears of War - Dpad left/right are set to a left/right paddle so that I can switch weapon and keep my thumb on the left stick to move around.

Forza - Gear change up/down are set to paddles left/right which unsurprisingly works well.

Riptide is likely to be a bit later than that. From their FB page:

Vector Unit The game will be releasing on additional platforms in late August, including Xbox One, Windows 10, iOS, Google Play and Amazon. Thanks for your support and patience!

Andrew Mogford A month later? Ok - I know it's gonna be good and I know I'm gonna buy it, whatever. But I can't deny I'm a little peeved. Has some kind of exclusivity deal been signed with Sony? I'd be intrigued to know why we have to wait. I always thought with Hydro Thunder and through Riptide that you were more on the iOS and Xbox side but guess I was wrong......

Vector Unit It's coming! Xbox One has been delayed because of technical complications with cross play -- delay is a bummer but Win10 cross play will be great! The Xbox One / Win10 version is taking longer because it's one of the very first Xbox Live crossplay titles, which means Xbox One and Windows 10 players will be able to play online against each other. It also means players who own both copies will be able to sync them with a single Xbox Live account, share game progress and achievements and leaderboards. The Xbox One version boasts 6-player split screen and party invites.

Attack on Titan is all it's about this month.

(And Uno...)

I've never heard of this but, fuck me, it looks pretty awesome!

Would people recommend I watch some of the anime online first?

Just to have a clue what the hell is going on as it looks a bit batshit!
