I would love to but I couldn't get much info from the customer service person I spoke to. Apparently the policy now is that 12 month codes can't be stacked.

Have you had your previous sub on a cedit/debit card? I know that used to cause issues years ago when switching to a pre-paid card.

Edit: Top reply in that thread:

I just added another 3 month code last week to my existing sub, now has 2 years on there. They do still stack.

However I think it is different if you have a sub that was paid by credit card. You have to cancel auto-renew and apply the sub after that. One you have a pre-paid sub, you can stack on top of that.

Relatedly, I assume an external USB3 drive is faster than an internal SSHD in the Elite one?

From what I have read, the SSHD in the elite will only really help speed up things like OS boot and the most regularly used apps, as it caches the most used filed onto the SSD partition automatically.

My USB 3 HDD is faster than my internal one, which is weird as they are both bog standard 5000odd rpm gubbins.

USB3 is faster than SATAII. It must max out the SATAII. Managed to get a cheap Elite pad from the warehouse deals (last one, unfortunately) so I think I might get that deal.

It's a significant difference, (googles) 2gbps, apparently. Real-world is probably slightly different, mind.

There is a difference but a single 5000rpm drive will get nowhere near saturating either SATAII or USB3. It shouldn't matter which connection is used.

That's what I thought, but it's the only explanation why one would be quicker than the other. Unless the external one is actually faster, obv.

I'm not in the preview but my box got a mandatory 1058mb update this morning.

Just checked and mine didn't.  According to Xbox mine is already running the latest version and updated at the end of April

What OS version are you on?

Need for Speed Rivals complete is about £9 at the moment. Reviews seemed to make it sound OK if a bit shallow and given I have hot pursuit, is there really any point to this? The fact that you seem to get all the DLC included does make it a bit tempting.

Divinity Original Sin down from £45 to £11.25 in this week's deals with gold. Not my kind of game but after watching a few reviews I took a punt on it.

That's a good price for a super game.  Some advice - don't regard it as a conventional open world RPG where you pick up a quest and trot off to a other marker to fulfil it (lots of people here have got frustrated by it) - - you will end up covering every inch of the map and have the necessary encounters, but your access will be gated by enemy levels.  Spend lots of time in the town before venturing out to get at least a level or two there.  Get Pet Pal as a Perk - this helps with the murder mystery and provides light relief throughout.  Fire and ice/water magics are a must.  Someone on the team has to use all those elemental arrows.  Charm works a treat.

It was OK as a launch game, but I probably wouldn't bother now. The handling is quite nice and the open world setup is pretty good for cruising around, but the structure is quite grindy and frustrating, and the homicidal AI is very annoying. Unless you're totally sick of Forza Horizon 2, I would not bother.

Isn't EA Access available for about £13? You're as well spending the extra £4. Get the newer NFS as well that way.

Where is it £13? Cheapest I've seen recently is about £18.

On the marketplace or wherever there is a buy icon, it just spins and never loads the price (or free icon - if it's a game with gold).

Anyone any ideas?

Are you on the preview desktop as I had problems with this as well? I did a full reboot and it improved but still takes an age to update those boxes on the store.
