On the other hand, if MS added this feature so that it could do more than just watch & pause live TV, maybe there'd be greater take up of it.

 

 

How much work would it be to add scheduled recordings to the TV app? It already buffers to the HDD, and already has a full planner.

 

 

I wonder how far they got before they abandoned it.

I just think it's such a small number of people, bear in mind that MS can see whether you are routing your Xbox through Sky or Virgin or another service that isn't freeview.

66% of the UK are using pay TV of some sort which means that it just becomes a smaller and smaller subset of people.

 

I think because of their moves on the TV market, they've struggled to get some of the larger companies behind them (Sky) for other kinds of support

 

All the content that we want to watch is already there, they just need to get it built into the Oneguide so you can go back through the timeline and watch a program you've missed via it's on-demand service.

What I meant about the voice stuff being unusable is that I'm now on the new dash and instead of "xbox pause" which worked instantly it's now "hey Cortana pause" and you say hey Cortana and the sound dips so she can hear you, the picture dims. Then about 5 seconds later she goes ah yes and pauses. It might be able to handle natural language better, but when I told Cortana to go to youtube she after a while decided that what I wanted was a snapped edge window with youtube as the url. I mean that's clever, not what I wanted but clever.

Count me as one of those 30, then. I get more channels via the tuner and they look better.

 

£12 well spent.

Well that's why I noticed. I'm up before anyone else at home and turn the console on via the controller so that I don't disturb those still sleeping. I'll have to look too see if it can be turned off. What I would like is the ability to set my own sounds.

Hit a strange bug on the preview dash related to Upload Studio now needing you to give it permission to use the camera and mic on Kinect - faff about, reset console and when it fired back up Cortana pipes up with "Sorry about that" :huh:

I take back everything I said. You are totally right. It is a fucking unusable mess now. I have no fucking idea how to get my xbox to switch off with voice command now. Cortana takes an age to respond. It keeps telling me I can "say yes or no" but to what end? As saying yes or no after asking cortana something, does fuck all.

 

 I want my simple Xbox commands back.

It's a beta opt out and you'll get the other version back. If you don't like something you give them feedback that's how it works.
