Xbox One Console Thread

Turns out I'm probably at fault. I thought I had a digital copy of the game, but I actually bought the disc. Reinstalling now, I suspect it will work.

I'm leaving the forum.

You have disgraced yourself and your ancestors. So much wrong with your post I have to tell you twice.

Seriously. Go read the UWP thread and a couple of others in discussion. You been hiding under a rock for a while? :)

Let's hope your PS4 doesn't end up like mine due to shoddy design,

Anyone know when Forza Horizon 3 is due to drop? Given I can't play The Crew on the other machine due to spitting discs, I thought I'd grab FH2. It's $50, almost full RRP. @Boozy The Clown?

If it's anything like the others it'll be Oct/Nov-ish.

I dunno, is there? To me, at least, the PS4's future is looking far more interesting. To me, at least, it looks as though the talents of Rare and Lionhead (and formerly Bungie) devs were wasted under Microsoft.

I think there's a lot wrong with the culture of the place. Financially they should be in a position to look after developers a lot better than Sony does but that doesn't seem to be the case.

That's fair enough.  If the games you want to play on the PS4 are only on the PS4 then go buy a PS4 and don't stress.

Personally I think the Xbox has a lot more interesting things going for it even though I own both consoles.

The BC is cool.  UWP meaning games released in the near future will be cross platform to PC and possibly the next xbox means my digital purchases are being thought about right now.   I don't get that sense from Sony at all.

I can buy games from international games stores far more easily on XboxOne than on Sony (you need separate accounts on Sony, on MS you use the same GamerTag)

It's generally a nicer media center machine than the PS4.  I only say this as I've seen what the Plex app looks like on PS4 compared to the Xbox.

The design of Xbox Live is better than Sony's.  I'm amazed you still can't change your gamertag on PSN.

Their customer service is light years ahead of Sony's.  Go look at the Sony customer service thread

You haven't given any specifics about the culture of MS.  It's massively different to what it seemed to be like at launch.  It seems you've got this image of what it was like at launch and haven't seen any of the changes.

But if you want to play Final Fantasy reboots or stuff like No Man's Land then the PS4 or a PC is the way to go I guess. You're not going to see them anytime soon on the XboxOne.

I don't think they're too bad, although I wouldn't buy one. What I do wonder though is if Don Wiskerando thinks they're bad what does he think of the game themed ones? Now they are categorically all fucking awful.

I think they look much better than the usual themed pads, mainly because they've avoided adding some awful garish colour scheme to the d-pad and the face buttons like they usually do, which always looks tacky and shit.  Even the day one pads have that rubbish chrome d-pad.

Bastion makes some good points (outside of the Destiny debacle that I called ;) ) about the state of Xbox at the moment IMO.

Firstly, I loved the 360 - it pushes the Snes as my fave console of all time and while I faded away from it at the end so missed the worst of the dashboards I can't think of anything wrong with it. Now I understand the RROD issue but my launch machine didn't die and neither did the elite I bought so personally I dint have that grief. On the flip side the PS3 was pretty much the worst console I have ever owned, I despised pretty much everything about it from the worst pad in gaming history to the terrible UI and PSN was a farce - I had some good games on it but they were despite the machine and not because of it, everyone of them would have been better on the 360 due to the pad and Live!

So there is my position prior to this gen, Sony were terrible and MS godlike and that E3 just wiped out MS, it was almost impossible to give them money after that debacle and of course everyone I played online went PS4 and so did I. The PS4 was a revelation, great pad and while the UI is a mess its slick and fast, PSN was still terrible and the early days were full of problems but I am at a point now were outside of (now much rarer) PSN outages I have no issue with the PS4 and have grown to love it.

All that was to change as soon as I got my Xbone, Halo 5 + MCC and Gears remaster and we were set for nostalgia an a return to a decent online experience....

Except no, Live is a shadow of its former self :(

The UI is a clusterfuck, seriously terrible and Sony are leagues ahead even with their pretty terrible UI :(

The machine is slow, not just the UI but everything from game loads to installs from disc - it feels like a step back and again PS4 is much better :(

The store is just woeful, how on earth has that happened :(

However I love Forza Horizon 2, Gears remake, Ori etc and having all the Halo games on one machine is epic! The games are good despite the machine and thats from a fan, Xbox has gone from the best hardware with the best UI and online by a mile to a very second rate machine with Live barely better than PSN and thats a sorry state of affairs :(

How is the ps4 interface better? It's boring and basic with few updates since launch.

Thats part of my point, the PS4 UI on its own is pretty terrible but the Xbone one is so bad it makes the PS4 one seem fine :o Part of that is how slow and cumbersome it is to do something, I just can not get over how they fucked up something like party chat that worked so well on the 360 - the PS4 is infinitely quicker and easier to get a chat going and friends in.

Wii U has the best UI this gen, this is how bad things currently are!

Man, MS fucked up the launch so bad that two years down the line they're still perceived as having the same issues.

Most of that stuff is sorted.   Now they have a whole different bunch of issues. :)

Exciting times.  I was convinced I would stick to one console this gen but as per usual ended up buying them all and I'm really glad i did. I'll no doubt do it next gen too, however much the console manufacturers try to sabotage their own launches. :)

That's just not accurate any more:

Plus if you want faster game loading you could use a 7200rpm external drive and then games will load quicker than a PS4 too.

I pretty much have a party going every day on ps4 and not all that often on xbone but it always feels slow and clunky on the xbone, I'm tempted to turn the xbone on and try it - maybe its not slower but its clunky as fuck to do on the xbone so prolly adds time in the real world rather than a reddit user doing some stop watch tests

The worst thing about the Bone UI is that I have everything I use, perhaps 20 tiles, immediately accessible. On the PS4 UI, I've honed my dpad skills to tap past all the incredibly useful Sony apps I never use to get to games I don't play as often in the library. It's like the old games that would appear on loading screens.

This is based on real life performance, not hypothetical benchmarks, note.
