I discovered today that Edge can not only handle Flash, but favourites can be pinned, which is brilliant.

I've got my PS4 back now, but I still find myself turning to the Xbox 9 times out of 10. I think if I could get a decent price for the PS4 it'd be gone by now.

Edit:

Superhot has been confirmed as coming out in March (end of Feb on PC). Looking forward to that.

Is there any way to prevent the Xbox One from sending a signal through the HDMI port while it's in standby mode?

I want to use it through an auto-switching HDMI splitter like all my other consoles but as it cock-blocks the signal I have to resort to shutting it down completely every time. And it takes an age to start up.

It'll probs be down to the HDMI splitter. I have a cheapo one I bought off amazon and it switches fine between xboxone/ps4 and Wii U when they go to standby.

Is there a way to get the XB1 to regularly check games for updates? I don't want to leave it in standby, but I would at least like frequently played stuff to be up to date without my having to run it (like the PS4 does).

Nah you'll have to leave it in instant-on. What's the issue? It's not like it switches itself on and off during the night it's effectively off anyway. If you're getting into the preview program not leaving it in that state will be a pain in the arse for you.

Has anyone in the preview program had a system update in the last three weeks?

I'm guessing I have because I can now move my pins around, which I thought was a feature of the latest preview. Why do you ask?

I actually prefer the way the XB1 doesn't automatically download game updates until you try playing the game (at least if you power off fully, which I have to, because the power brick makes a noise). I hate the way the PS4 updates everything even if you're not playing it any more.

For example, right, bear with me. I might be a weirdo about this. I feel finished with The Witcher 3 on PS4. Completed the story, moved on to other games, won't bother playing the DLC because life's too short. So I absolutely don't want the PS4 to download a Fifteen Gigabyte megapatch... my internet is slow, I don't need the update. You can pause it, but it'll always be there in the downloads list, and will resume next time when you're not looking. So to stop the PS4 doing this shit I must uninstall the whole game.

But something I always loved to do last generation was occasionally dip into an old game just for fun. One lazy Sunday afternoon I might want to just... ride my horsey around... in The Witcher 3... because the game is pretty. Don't judge me. That whimsical desire is not practical if the game's not installed any more. However, I don't want to keep downloading huge fuck-off megapatches just in case I might want to ride the horsey around on a Sunday afternoon. See?

So I wish I'd bought The Witcher 3 on XB1. Then I could keep the game on the HDD. Then on a lazy Sunday afternoon I could dip in, and the Xbox will say, "There's 18 gigs of updates you never downloaded, you'll have to play offline if you don't upate," and I'll go, "That's fine mate, I just want to ride the horsey," and the Xbox will say, "There you go then." Nice one.

To conclude, I think both consoles should give you both options. Automatic downloads, manual downloads, you get to choose. Maybe a tick box in your game library for "Keep this game up to date."

You can delete from your download list, and you can set it not to automatically download updates, to that end, my ps4 never automatically downloads updates ????
