Xbox One Console Thread

Since upgrading the dash (or maybe shortly after), my Xbone is taking 30 seconds+ to sign in when it boots up from standby. What's up with that? Is it a known issue?

I expect it may be that the servers busier than normal too with it being Christmas. The nippers 360 has been sluggish on Live over the past couple of days when they have being trying to register their gift cards.

Ordered a kinect. Is there a recommended adapter to fix it to the top of the TV? The one I had for the 360 screwed into the TV's wall mounting sockets on the back. No rush, it's out of stock so I won't get it for a couple of weeks.

Also, ordered a play and charge kit. Stupid question, but someone in the Q&A suggested you can only charge it via the supplied cable while connected to the XB1 itself. Surely that's bollocks? I use a tablet 2.0A charger to charge my DS4 pads just fine.

Any decent micro USB cable can be used to charge the controllers, the benefit of the official wire is the light showing you when it's charging and fully charged, and the length of the wire.

Thanks.

A conundrum. If I buy the dlc as me for Advanced Warfare and then get the season pass, can he sign in as him and use the season pass? After all he can use my games, but is dlc locked to the account that purchases it?

Is Lego Marvel Superheroes any good? Primarily to play through with a kid (aged 4)

It's one of the best games

I had it on the 360. Played hours and hours with my 6 year old and we loved it so much that it was a day one purchase with the bone to start again.

Get it cheap and by the time you're finished the new one will be cheap

It's a bit overwhelming at first - I basically went from Lego Star Wars TCS to that, and was a bit freaked out that I didn't have a small cantina from which I could access everything. Fire up Iron Man and flying around New York is loads of fun though, as are the various side quests dotted around.

Not quite sure how they'll top that for the next game.

My controllers have started acting up. The bumpers will refuse to register for about half an hour at a time. Hard reset fixes it for a while, but it always comes back. The controllers are both running the latest firmware and I've tried resyncing them.

I'm souring more and more on this console if I'm honest. When it works, it's good, but things seem far too unstable since NXOE arrived. And my second Kinect still won't work. It worked perfectly until NXOE and then literally as soon as it updated, the Kinect didn't work around 50% of the time.

No, haven't done that yet. Thanks for the suggestion. May well give it a go when I get back from my parents'. Presumably my saves will be okay, since they're all online on the bone? I'll just have to redownload everything?

You could move the games to an external hard drive before you factory reset

I'd also recalibrate the Kinect. I've not run into issues since the update.

I did what this guy did when I set mine up and it's worked great. Basically like a new born baby it needs to get used to the general background noise in your house.

This way it knows what to filter out when it's listening to your voice. Give it a whirl and see if it makes it any better.

Picked up ori in the blind forest because it was £8. I was a so,utterly loving it until I got to the bit where you have to outrace the water in the tree. What a horribly shitty piece of games design. I know it's making you use all your skills you've unlocked until that point, but it feels horribly floaty and unfair where you need the controls to be ridiculously precise. Spent an hour trying to do it and have given up. Will try it again tomorrow, but otherwise it's been deleted.

Strider, as discussed in the Ori thread, stick with it, you will do it. You just need to remember the order of events. And not panic when you get the the latter 'bash-chaining' phase. And it's honestly not the controls that are letting you down...

Installed the Xmas Xbox late last night. Controller is nice. It was good that a smattering of 360 games showed up like old friends. Took an absolutely age to update and install everything. I found the UI confusing: as an example it took me forever to figure out how to get to my list of installed games and my download queue. Maybe I'll play something today!
