Xbox One Console Thread

I had a similar experience yesterday after plugging mine in Wiper. All very confusing after the ps4 and my muscle memory from the UI. Added to the paddles on the pad causing me untold confusion by selecting random stuff, or so it seemed. Reset and try again tonight with the new UI.

And as for Halo 5, it pains me to say it but I found it utterly awful. I was so disappointed in it, just felt nothing like Halo of old to me. And that has to be one of the worst opening levels for a 'AAA' game ever surely? Just so nondescript or it at least felt like it. I played through the opening sets of levels for both teams and ended up switching it off I was so unimpressed by it which made me a bit sad it has to said. Felt a bit gutted to be honest, where oh where was the Halo magic? I'm desperately hoping it was because I was knackered and not really getting into it properly and I know a lot of people have said it doesn't really get going till about level five or six so will reserve further judgement till then. Think I might restart the whole thing again tonight and try again.

And then go order TR...

I had a cracking day today playing Xbox - it feels like home, can't quite describe it but I prefer playing Xbox than Playstation!!

How I felt when I booted up Forza Horizon 2 for the first time when I got mine. Other than the awful UI (better now though).

Its the silly little things I missed like the ping of an achievement unlocked popping up onto the screen etc.

Shame they didn't spend the money they wasted on Kinect though making it more powerful. :)

Get yourself a 5TB external drive and you won't have to think about it for a long, long time.

500GB isn't enough, and neither is 1TB.

Debatable. I added a 1tb drive to my 1tb machine. I've got 52 games installed with 800GB to spare.

I dearly hope you're right angel, I do. I'm a huge Halo fanboy (looks at Halo t-shirt from the Bungie store circa 2001) and really really want to love it. Will give it another crack over the next few days and hopefully become a convert.

the first few hours are deceptive, you feel like you want to immediately get into the meat of the story but trust me. im a fan of halo lore, ive beaten it and the early levels are much more fun once you relax and go with the flow, dont expect instant revelation moments, they feel a lot more significant once youve beaten it and you arent on a mad dash to the finish line. level 1 i find a lot of fun, level 2 is really atmospheric, its basically a road movie for the 1st third or so...travelling to places you dont really know about, but its great, and the story kicks in big time in the last half or so.

my xbone is weird, whenever i tell it to switch off (hold xbox circle button on pad), and i switch it back on its straight to the dash, the game i was on will go straight to where i was (often with briefly garbled audio), and my NAT will be strict.

Fair enough, sounds good to me. And to be clear, I'm not expecting instant revelations and suchlike. It just felt off and un-Halo like to me. Looking forward to trying again though.

How do you get the 360 games via your Xbox one?

If you had them digitally they'll appear in the ready to download section. Choose them and they'll download.

If you had them on disc, put the disc in and the console will start downloading.

Apparently the way the Xbox works with UPNP is really shit in instant on mode and causes issues with some routers.

Regards the 360 GwG I just hope we at least get an option to download them through Smartglass in the future.

I'm assuming a 360 store will appear at some point on the XOne as well.

I just "bought" Dirt 3 on the web store and turned on Xbox One and it was available in my download list.

What I could do with is a filter in "my games and apps" so i can just show 360 apps or Xbox One apps or Demos or full games etc etc. Navigating all my digital games is a bit of a nightmare.

They've said they're going to sort that - there was supposed to be a 360 store for Xbox one but it wasn't ready on time. If you go to the games with gold tile then click through it launches IE at the page for downloading all gold games including 360 you can get them that way.

For now I've put all 360 stuff on the internal drive and everything else except apps external - you can then use the storage drop down on games to filter XB1/360

its possible, i'll investigate the settings, it really messes some things up

Tried putting the console in a DMZ?

I have alsorts of issues, not only does the xbox not like UPNP in Instant On, but my router doesn't like Xbox Ones, at all. Bloody pain!

Quick controller question.

I've just brought a Play & Charge Kit for my normal Xbox One controller and when I tried to plug it into the micro USB port on the controller, it was really difficult to plug in. It went in all the way but their was no smooth click, it really felt like I was forcing it.

Have I got a dodgy controller port or are they all like this?
