So finally plugged my new elite in and got it up and running, all good and very confusing. Anyway, is anyone using an astro mixamp pro and separate headphones with an xbone? I cannot for the life of me get the mic to work once all plugged in. Seems to be an issue as there are other who have had same problem online but no solution that I can find. Using the elite controller if that makes any difference? Annoying as it’s plug and play on the ps4 but not here it seems.

Currently have the headphones (green and pink leads) in to the splitter into the mixamp. This allows me to hear everything but no mic which the xbone states. If I move the green (sound) lead from the splitter in to the xbone pad it then allows to me to hear everything (far worse quality which makes sense) and then says I have a mic attached but it doesn’t work. That doesn’t make sense as the mic (pink lead) is attached to the mixamp. Confused to say the least?!

I don't usually leave the XBox in "Instant On" mode because of the loud power brick issue I've mentioned before, but I did it today before setting off for work. And what do you know -- everything updated magically by itself! Came back to find a whole new dashboard. Sweet.

In fact, the only thing I don't like is that they've buried the "Instant On/Energy Saving" switch even deeper into the interface, rather than putting it right into the guide-button-long-press like any sane console would do.

And can you no longer even find "Settings" on the start button? I'm sure I'm saying stuff you've all discussed to death as preview members.

Does anyone know if there is any deals on for trading in an xbox one for the new elite console? I've filled the 500gb and have around 4 more games that i've had to uninstall now. Was going to get a usb hard drive but thought this may be another option if it worked out at a good price?

Toshiba 2TB £50 about the best deal you'll get at the moment.

I was talking to my mate about this, he has it and I want to play it again as I loved it co-op and multiplayer, I told him I would get it in December as I have bought too many games of late...

I don't understand the confusion - did preview people think MS let us test all these versions right up till release then they were going to put out another new untested version to the world? :wacko:

It could be that the current preview version had issues that they couldn't fix so rolled back to the last most stable version for the general release.

Oh God. We're going to have the settings thing all over again.

I've seen a few people complaining about this. The icon is there on the front page. You press left once and you are in the menu it is in. I think these people that complain about it must have a right shit time when they are trying to find Control Panel on their PC, or Settings on their phone.

Get yourself a 5TB external drive and you won't have to think about it for a long, long time.

500GB isn't enough, and neither is 1TB.

I had a cracking day today playing Xbox - it feels like home, can't quite describe it but I prefer playing Xbox than Playstation!

Anyhoo, due to the above and not having Destiny on it I have been stocking up on a few games but some I fancy digitally so other than CDkeys is there anywhere else to buy credit from?

I remember getting it from a website that just seemed to be a chap back in the day, probably when it was still points!

Thoughts, in order, since the Bone arrived yesterday:

Day 1

  • Gosh, this interface is a pile of shit.
  • WHY HASN'T THE MASTER CHIEF COLLECTION INSTALLED AFTER 60 MINUTES OH MY GOD KILL ME NOW
  • Hey, Halo 4 is really good looking for a remastered 360 game!
  • Hey, Halo 4's single player matches the giddy heights of Halo 2's, only with an even worse storyline!
  • I guess I'll just go and make some tea, and shower, and do the washing up, and play on my Vita, while waiting for Rare Replay to install, then.
  • Hey, these minigames are great! A shame there aren't more of them, but then...
  • ...who cares when you also get the full games! Brilliant stuff, what NES Remix should have been.
  • Oh god, N64 controls. Maybe I'll go to bed.

Day 2

  • Ah, new UI. Oh, it's still godawful. Good, good.
  • N64 controls still make my head hurt. Damn it, Jet Force Gemini! Guess I'll try this demo then...
  • Ooh, Forza Horizon 2 is pretty great! Bellend of an unskippable introducer notwithstanding. I'll be buying that.

So, a bit of a mixed bag so far. Rare Replay and Forza are great, and I know I'll enjoy the rest of the Master Chief Collection (well, 1, 3 and ODST). But Halo 4's quality has me seriously considering selling my sealed copy of Halo 5 while I can, because if 343 carried on as they started I don't want any part of it. And Christ, the Bone has the worst menu system I've encountered in a console since, well, ever.

Still, I'm looking forward to Forza Horizon 2 and Sunset Overdrive, to replaying the earlier Halos, and to making my way through Rare Replay.

this new dash is so cluttered, its far more messy that the old one. im impressed my xbone installed it all by itself and ive a lovely queue of XBLA games to install, but its definitely gona take some getting used to. it uses way more screen real estate, but im pleased the clock doesnt dissapear.

the xbone is a lot harder to get into than the ps4 wiper, menus weird, installs excuciating, but persist. halo 5 is stupendous, mcc is hit and miss but still very useful to have, and you get lots of lovely apps to use.
