Xbox One Console Thread

Everybody might want to leave their xbox in instant on mode tonight so it'll likely be updated by the time you next use it. Between the NXOE, Star Wars downloads via EA Access, 360 downloads and potentially the Halo5 BTB DLC I can't see it being pretty tomorrow for someone arriving home and switching on then having to sit through the dash update.

Seeing as my Bone has arrived today, I'm guessing from the above that when I get home tonight (~19:30) I'll probably just have enough time to finish updating it in time for a whole host of new updates to come screaming down the pipes. Hurrah!

:) Not expecting it to be ready tomorrow when I get home although guessing its not a *huge* update anyway for the dash?

Always leave my console on "instant on" mode. Its great never seen a patch download screen yet! :)

Sometimes you can manually force an update - check system settings tonight and you might be able to do it that way.

How much power is it actually consuming in instant on mode?

I think somebody did the maths and it's about £3.50 a year? If you have a few games it's worth it just for the updates being done without you even knowing it and being able to download stuff remotely via the website or smartglass.

So do we expect the update to hit in the early hours our time?

Will be leaving my box in Instant On mode tonight just in case

It's a huge rollout, so it's bound to be done over the course of the month, surely? I can't imagine that come tomorrow, they're going to have the bandwidth to push it out to every single console out there.

They are saying that Backwards compatibility is live from tomorrow, we need the new dash for that. Have to get all LIVE connected Xbox's updated pretty quickly to fulfil that promise

http://support.xbox.com/en-GB/xbox-one/system/learn-about-power-modes

The console uses 15 watts of power when in Instant-On mode.

The console uses 0.5 watts of power when in energy-saving mode.

Cheers guys. Yeah, think I'm going to start leaving it on. It's a few minutes to get booted, game loaded, etc. Something that's a bit less tolerable in the solid state device era.

And the XB1 actually makes it possible without needing to put a strip of black electrical tape over a light.

I'm one of those people that like to make sure electronic devices are powered off at the mains overnight. Always been like this since a family friends TV caught fire when in standby mode.

I know its not likely to happen, but at least this way I know it wont

I never really get this unless people actually cut all the electricity to the house, a mate of mine was saying similar to above when I said the Ps4 is in the standby mode and he was horrified that it was on.... apparently his router, sky box, boiler controls, clock radio and all those other devices that are on couldn't possibly catch fire.

Yeah yeah its all about risk and having less devices on has to be less risk but all in or nothing!

Still waiting on a really great deal on a One. There has been some decent ones but nothing amazing yet.

When did they start appearing last year?

Think it was about this time last year. I bagged mine on an Amazon lightning deal.

For anyone with game sharing set up, after you set you're pal's xbone as your home, and vice versa, is this how it is left? So you log back in as yourself, but you essentially are playing your own xbone with it not set as your 'home'?

What about your fridge?

Think thats the only device with the boiler that is left on for obvious reasons

I know its stupid, but better safe than sorry

I do leave my Xbox in Instant on mode overnight when I am downloading games / updates etc
