Tomb Raider.

And then get Fallout in a month or two when you won't end up getting stuck in a lift due to a bug and losing 9 hours of progress.

:) Fallout will last a whole lot longer so better value for money overall...but it does depend if you enjoy those types of games though.

Also the old Tomb Raider is on XBL GWG so scratch your TR itch by playing through that again. When your done the new TR will be cheaper anyway. :)

Almost tempted to pickup Fallout 4 at the end of the month myself. I actually enjoyed the theme of 3 and really enjoyed the intro and the first 30mins of the game. Then I just kept dying quickly and it got frustrating. I then realised its a game that needs a bit of time investment in to learn how to play it properly so I put it down for a bit and unfortunately never went back to it. Which I kind of regret now.

So tempted to have another go with Fallout 4 - because from all that I've read about it seems right up my street. I know it would consume my life though. So have to be careful. :D

Yeah there is the patch element of Fallout too. Always better waiting although you'd miss all the launch buzz and shared chat that goes with with release of a game which I quite like ... :)

The reported levels of jank are steering me towards Lara but then I'm not too fussed about jankiness in general. Then there's the fact that VG calls TR the best looking game of the gen vs the undeniably rough looking F4. I really enjoyed TR1 vs the hype levels of F4's internet expectation.

I guess being the forum's biggest xbot should lead me to the exclusive over the one that's rough as a badger's backside.

You'd hope that Fallout would get some patches down the line to fix it up. If I was in the market for a game this week, I'd go for Tomb Raider on the basis that it seems to be a finished, polished game.

If you were buying retail, I would say get TR, complete it (supposedly it only takes around 12 hours) and trade it quickly so the net cost approaches PoaP.

If you are going digital I would have to say Fallout (provided you enjoyed the other games of course since this one is very similar in most respects). Even with bugs and jank it's much better value for money imo.

Playing TR just now and it's excellent - if you liked the first you'll love this.

Getting FO4 at end of the month for the boys birthday - hopefully it'll be a few patches deep by then.

Someone has done 100% of TR and that's apparently 40 hours.

Tomb Raider is great according to the reviews and it looks beautifully next-gen. Fallout 4 looks... rough. Tomb Raider runs and performs well right now, while Fallout 4 does not BUT it will only getter better the longer you wait to give Bethesda the time it always needs to roll out a gazillion patches. Playing TR now and F4 later means that you're going to be able to enjoy a significantly better version of F4. Win-win.

I've updated my gamertag in that spreadsheet on page 1. I changed it a couple of months ago and forgot to update. Sorry if any of the new owners tried to add me.

Having said that I'm pretty anti-social and the only real reason to add me is to have some easily beatable scores in any games with leaderboards.

It was a given that Fallout was going to be rough from the outset though so for me I'm going for Tomb Raider as a Xmas present and picking up Fallout early new year by which time (hopefully) most of the jankiness will be patched out.

Just taken the plunge... got a 1tb version with 2 tomb raider games and Star Wars battlefront for £299 from Amazon.de.... Time to spend sme cash on Witcher 3, GTA,Fifa and Fallout4!

And Halo 5 and Battlefield 4.

Okay, so I haven't bothered with the preview program or trying the new dashboard at all. As a result, I've skimmed and skipped a lot of this thread, so apologies if this is an old question:

When the new dashboard drops for all regular users (this week?) will it wipe everything?

I can't imagine why it would -- that would be terrible. But I just want to be sure. I wasn't planning to buy a USB3 external HDD until I run out of space on the console, so I've not backed anything up. And right now I'm laboriously downloading 200 Rock Band DLC songs one by one. I'm gonna kill somebody if I have to do this twice.

Not without some jiggery-hackery and voiding your warranty.

Technically: Yes If you are still in warranty: Wouldn't do it.

Also I'm guessing the console would pick up a hardware change and a possible ban on XB-Live may happen? (used to happen on 360's)

Technically I think you can (as in someone out there has done it by using tools to clone the stock drive onto a larger unit), but it's not supported by MS in any way. The official way is to plug in a USB3 external drive. Done.

Yeah you can image the disk off using some tools....however guessing the issue will be with the HDD firmware and MS detecting changing in serial numbers etc in that? Not sure. Think that is what used to get people banned on 360 - when they swapped over the drives and MS detected the firmware had changed.

Just put an external drive on. You might actually get a performance increase too.

With regards to the NXOE update, no, it will not wipe everything (unless something goes terribly wrong).

Just make sure your console is set to Instant On, and at some point later this week when you go onto your console, it'll be downloaded, installed, and ready to go straight away.

As said above. It'll void your warranty and could get you banned. Better off just geting an external, heres a link to the 2tb bargain I posted last week for £49
