Xbox One Console Thread

They haven't "thrown this out" though Matty - they were very, very explicit about what people were getting into if they opted in at the early stage - obviously they should've known that the pissing & whining on the internet would be very loud but that was their choice. I'd imagine if there's a next time it'll be done with a much tighter group probably NDA'd to the heavens.

No sorry didn't mean the dash update was thrown out. I meant it the past MS have appeared to do that so this approach is much better.

I've been watching with interest the feedback etc on here so I know its been well tested and its a great initiative by MS to allow this type of testing out to the public.

Oh and while I'm at it just want to say a thanks to all those in the review program it will make the general publics experience much better on launch.

:)

Or Driveclub.

Can't ever be *that* bad. :D

That was one disappointing month as a racer fan* with a PS4 I must say... anyway not wanting to de-rail the thread.

Looking forward to next Thursday... :)

* Luckily had Forza Horizon on the XBO to ease the pain.

Or Halo: The Master Chief Collection.

True. However I think the issue I had with DriveClub is that the whole premise of the game was fundamentally broken. Its unique selling point was that it was online with clubs etc to join and play against etc. In addition it already had multiple delays before it was released and it was *still* broken. :) With MCC it was just the online elements as I understand it that had issues you could still play through the campaigns etc.

Anyway... Grrrrr sorry. Another irrelevant post to this thread. Still frustrates me now thinking back to the clusterf**k of a release that was DriveClub and a game I'd waited so long to play....

In addition DC was a new AAA game for PS4. It should have been playable when it launched late. No excuses - not with the delays etc. Sony should never have promised on something they must have known they couldn't deliver from the outset.

On the flipside there was Forza Horizon 2. Delivered on time - pretty much out of the blue with little publicity, with a demo and doing stuff DriveClub should have been doing. Not starting a pi**ing contest here. DC eventually turned out good. At this point though regret going down the PS4 route when the consoles initially launched.

I would love to see a game incorporate Spotify. Properly, like sign in on the menu somewhere, then ingame you can set your car radio to your Spotify playlists. And since it's all integrated then the artists would still get their cash monies from plays.

The artists get barely anything from Spotify, so they'd probably be even more pissed off than many already are.

I'm an Xbone man, but anyone who doesn't consider Gran Turismo the superior series is deluding themselves. I'd rather fire up the PS3 for 5 and 6 than any Forza.

Not a chance. GT is sterile and flat. It handles well but the racing is turgid. Half the cars don't even sound like real cars.

Sick of rolling starts too.

Fucking hell, how can format wars be invading all threads on a forum mostly made up of adults. Christ.

:D

Like everything its about passion for a platform I guess. Whether it be football teams supported, car brands people buy into etc etc.

Happens everywhere guess its a tribal thing and possibly part instinct.

Anyhow personally wish Sony and MS would make a console together and then we wouldn't have this and everyone could play all the games and then the focus would shift to games (all I expect that would happen through is similar debates about Forza Vs Driveclub etc etc). Just the way some things run I guess.

How about creating a "Console Wars" thread and people can put all this kind of stuff in there.....

And Vs threads for each game debate... However guessing it would still spill out and "pollute" other threads.....

Really not fussed personally. Its part of the way forums run - especially multiformat forums where you get passionate gamers of each format. So long as it doesn't get personal toward individual people. That is when it gets a bit ugly :-(.

I tried to go platform agnostic and stick to the PC (ok I know that is a plaform in itself :D). Then MS released Forza Horizon 2 and I got to play it. Damm it. :D

Quick question. With the incoming BC I fully expect to fill up my external hdd pretty quick. Can I buy a second hdd and transfer from one to the other?

I'm not in a position to be re-downloading large games as BT broadband sucks.

Yeah. I've got a 4 TB MyBook, and you can copy games across to the external HDD.

You get copy and move options - just go to your games & apps then press start/menu and pick "Manage game" and you'll have all the options.

Nope, I encountered game breaking bugs in H2 Anniversary which forced me to restart a few levels a bunch of times shortly after it was released. It seems to be all fixed now though.

Nice idea, but i don't want usb ports on the front, would prefer them on the top to be honest.

To be fair to Microsoft, they've taken quite a different approach to product development of late, I reckon starting with Windows 7. I don't think this is the same company that throws out tat like Win ME. The feedback program for this new dashboard just mimics that used for the last couple of OSes, and especially Win 10. I think it's a great way to get customer input on design, as well as defects.

And I say this as someone who is monumentally pissed off at them for the recent OneDrive changes.

Isn't it for the usb on the side of the machine, not the top?

Nice idea but £40 is way too much for me, that's another game I could have.

It is, but puts the three extra ones at the front. No good for me as the door to my av unit would close on the cables.

Not really, compared to a couple of weeks ago it's pretty stable now.

Still poorly designed, but this is obviously how they want it.

Would you say it is better or worse than the existing dashboard? I never had a problem with the current one but I know some people didn't like it.
